As a date! Thats wierd, very wierd. If it was a family dinner then that would be different, but calling it a date with your mother in law is awkward!

what's the big deal? you all know each other reasonably well, right? it sounds like "double date" is just the term she is using for you all to go out together and if you don't hate them and they don't hate you, why not?

Why would her parents being going out on a date? I can see the four of you sharing an evening of dining or whatever, but why call it a date?

I think she just wants to go out and have fun with her parents, not a big deal. Go you might find out that they really are fun to be around. It would make her happy, and I am sure she does things she doesn't want to do to make you happy.

I don't see anything wrong with that. Do you feel like you are uncomfortable doing that? If you don't feel comfortable with it for some reason don't do it. That is my advice.

No, seriously no, next you will notice her father's wife eying you funny, notice your wife and her dad are a little too friendly, then her parents will start joking about swingers, then they will reveal they are swingers, then your wife will suggest the idea to you, then before you know it they will be suggesting you all swing with each other.

They are all freaks, leave now, get a divorce if you want to save yourself, it is the only way.

I must say....to call it a date sounds weird - ewwwww. But to have dinner together - I don't see anything wrong with that.
