The initial treatment of the "fresh" stain is crucial!!!!!!!!!!! Once the stain has set, it's pretty much impossible to remove it....

Running ONLY cold water through the stain can remove all of it at this stage.

When I spill things on my clothing (the closest to your question would be my spilling spaghetti tomato sauce on my khakis and/or white capris) I make sure to treat it within the hour of doing it.

    1. to put some laundry detergent (NOT bleach) with some water directly on the stain and rub it in a little to pre-treat it if you don't have shout, oxy-clean or something relative to it.
    2. Fill the washing machine with hot water, pour about 3 caps of bleach into the hot water and a cup of laundry detergent in the hot water as well.
    3. After step 2, put your clothes in the washing machine. Allow it to go through its cycles. If it doesn't come out completely then you can try and re-wash it or use a different pre-treater followed by #2. If it still doesn't come out, then you may not be able to save them, just use them to wear around the house or something.

You could try applying some fresh lemon juice with salt on top of the stain and behind it. Let set for a day or so, then rinse with cold water from the reverse side of stain. try not to scrub or rub the stain too much (the idea is to "push" the stain out rather than rub it in). try to only dabbing at it. that sometimes removes blood stains.

If the stain doesn't come out the first time (and you don't mind having a stain linger on your item for awhile) try a different stain remover method each time you wash; remember only to wash in cold. and don't put in the dryer or use an iron on this area either, which will make it even harder to remove because you're like setting it.

If all else fails, concider a patch of the same fabric over the top or sewn in place of the stain.
