Can over working a muscle fail to show results such as mass or definition?

I'm just wondering because i went to the gym today, did back and biceps. and for biceps i did 3 sets of 8 reps standing curls, 3 sets of 8 reps preacher hammer curls, seated curls, 3 sets 8 reps, than i did preacher curls 3 sets 8 reps than finally i did normal hammer curls. also 3 sets of 8 reps. was that over doing it? and can overdoing it fail to gain muscle mass/definition?

Additional Details

Okay, yes I was seriously asking. I weigh 132 lbs, I'm 15. I was using, 35's at first and I went as low as 20's for some things. And my calorie intake was pretty good today, I had a protein shake after my workout too.

You can't over work a muscle but you can injure it, and if you really work it you need to let it rest for a while and you just need to find out how long it takes for YOUR muscles to recover. Everybody is different. Like it takes me about a week to get the full benefits after a few days of intense exercise.
