you dont need to strip your hair unless there is already dye on it........ and it doesnt need to be almost white to take blue dye......... just a pale blonde. like maybe a level 7-8

they best lighteners are of course going to be professional. but if you cant get ur hand on any DPL then opt for kalidacolers. they sell them at sallys w/ a 40 vol CREAM developer. you may have to bleach twice. but dont leave it on any longer that the instructions tell you to

make sure that afterwards you use a good deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week to keep your hair semi healthy

and i dont know what blue you are using but it will last longer if leave it in longer then needed and wash it only in cold water

when you wash it out the first time DO NOT shampoo it. just rinse and condition. also try rinsing in a mixture of vinegar and water. 1/2 and 1/2 this will help 'lock' in the color by altering the pH of your hair.

feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. I really hate to see ppl mess up their hair by trying to save money doing it at home and end up having to come in and pay quadruple to fix it.

you'll need to strip your hair first and
then bleach it in phases that means it might take a couple of tries...

and don't be tempted to just leave the hair bleach on longer it will
be extremely damaging to your hair ( like fallout or break off damaged )

you could really use anything as long as you process it correctly
and process your hair to the point that it removes the color from the shaft of the hair\
(the inside core of the hair ) if you bleach your hair and its a brassy yellow chance are you've just bleached the cuticle of the hair.

you will want to wait before re-processing your hair or dying it another color
as it can lead to serious reactions on your scalp and hair loss

but as far as my experience if youre going to dye the bleached hair w/ a fun color
    ( purple blue pink green...)
if its bleached to brassy yellow point the new color will still be strong and vibrant

    good luck!!
