Why am I so afraid of wearing nice clothes?
This might sound kind of dumb but I'm 17 and I feel SO uncomfortable wearing nice clothes/outfits. I'm skinny and I like my body but I only wear boring clothes like a white t-shirt and jeans. I only wear white and black shirts. I never wear color except on my jeans. I never dress up and wear something cute like a halter top and shorts that match. I tried wearing a dressy outfit once but I literally felt like crying and felt so weird. It's like I'm afraid that people are going to be starting at me or something (not in a good way).
What is my problem seriously?

I'm also 17 and I'm having a very similar problem. I'm comfortable with my body but for some reason I hate wearing anything other than plain t shirts, band tees, and skinny jeans. I never wear bright colors, mostly black and white, and if i do wear color its something dark like navy blue. I think we feel this way because we use our t shirts as security blankets in a way. I don't like the attention I get when I wear something nice, and I feel like I'm trying too hard to be something I'm not. I'm so used to not trying, that when I do try I just feel like a retard haha. I'm a girl who likes nice things, but I don't feel like I have to break my back everyday to look good. I don't think there's anything wrong with us, just because we're different doesn't mean that. You shouldn't stress about it, just be happy wearing what your comfortable in, and if people don't like it, tell them to go **** themselves :)

Your problem, like me, i low self-esteem.
You feel scared to try out new clothes because maybe you might think that people will say that you aren't "good" enough to wear these clothes. If that is your case, then trust me there is nothing to worry about. People will not say anything if not a compliment. Trust me I have been through this.
If that is your problem, then just do not be afraid and keep on thinking that nothing nad will happen.:)

There's nothing wrong with you.
If you really wanna make that transaction from your "boring" clothes to something cute, itll take time.
first, try wear shirts and jeans that fit well (i see alot of girls wear bag shirts)
wearing skinny jeans may also help you feel cuter.
once you get comfortable in that outfit, wear some accesories. not something HUGE, but like a suttle bracelet.
you can wear flats after that.
its honestly the little things (accesories and shoes) that help make your wardrobe "cute"

maybe your'e not comfortable with YOURSELF, i dont think its the clothes...
maybe its because your self conscience about what other people
might say or think BECAUSE you've decided to wear nice clothes...
all in all, the clothes shouldn't define you, if you're more comfortable with your self
when you're "bummin it" maybe that's what u should continue to do, why subject
yourself to the anxiety of wearing nice clothes when you can just dress how you
want to... and be happy...? :)

Nothing's wrong with you. It's just not your thing. I had to dress up for a girls night out a couple months ago and I felt like I was in a costume. Ugh. I own some cute dressy stuff but never end up wearing it. If you have to glam it up find a flashy accessory or a top that can dress up your jeans. There are few things I hate more than being at a party or something and feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.
You're not alone.

I think you're just afraid of anything going wrong if you don't wear your regular clothes. I say you go ahead and wear something nicer or fancier for a day. Give that a try. Even if you don't go outside and just stay home. I think you're just not used to seeing yourself not in a t-shirt and jeans.
I'm kind of like you, except I know my reason for not wearing anything "nice". It's because I hate my face.

If you're not comfortable with people looking at you, don't go for something outrageous. There's nothing wrong with you though! (: It's all about your comfort zone. Why don't you try taking it slow by wearing a cool t-shirt? With maybe a nice picture or logo on it, with your jeans.

It not a problem maybe you're shy or something like that .........................
Give yourself sometime. i see nothin wrong with boring clothes but you can't wear them forever , appearance is everythin and there is nothin wrong with people starring at you.

you're just scared of what others will think. your biggest fear may be to be laughed at by others. maybe you're used to who you are, and dont want to change; you just want to be yourself (that's a good thing)
