Asker's Comment:
brewing is great. It can be done as simply or complex as you want and you can make it stronger if you like although i quit doing that because it was so strong you almost had to add club soda.

No, because I haven't tried and I heard that it must be done properly (otherwise you'll end up making methanol, which can make you go blind).

I make home brew beer, I like the challenge of needing to know exactly when to add different ingredients and making subtle changes to a recipe to alter the finished product.
Making beer is a meticulous process that requires great attention to detail and a lot of patience! (It can take months before you can try one and taste whether you've messed up the batch.)
Its a longer version of - Isn't a good home cooked meal more satisfying than a takeaway burger made by some kid with no concept of hygiene?

At the moment, no. However, I have a pretty decent stock of home brew to keep me going. The day I can't brew something better than the mega-breweries do will be the day I quit.

Yes, I do both thanks to the law signed into affect 1978 by President Carter. The law allows the making, without a license, up to 100 gallons per year per adult of drinking age up to two adults. So the most you can make with several drinking age adults in your household is 200 gallons. The license to make more beer is less than $250, where I live.

I make my own beer because it is almost Zen-like to make beer or wine. Take the grapes or wort for beer and ferment it and watch it develop into a remarkable drink after three weeks is spiritual alchemy at its best!

Fermentation is nothing at all like distilling liquor such as whiskey. Fermenting wine and beer is relatively safe.

The best reason is, IT IS FUN!
