Ive got a bathroom with no windows (aprox 14' x 7') I need a powerful exhaust fan, suggestions?

Because it has very little airflow the steam builds and we have a mold problem. So before I paint I want to fix the fenestration problem

Jill,
Yes, another vote here for Home Depot. I've installed two of their NuTone fans in my house and both are quiet and very effective.

Based on the dimensions of your bathroom, assuming it has a standard 8ft. ceiling, the CFM requirement would be calculated as follows:

14 x 7 x 8 foot ceiling = 784.

Then multiply 784 x .13 = 102 CFM required.

The fan shown in the link below is rated for 110 CFM, so this would be a good choice. If you read carefully, the info for this fan says the room size required is 10 x 10 (or 100 sq ft). Your bathroom at 14 x7 = 98 square feet. So, here too you're covered with this fan. Hope this helps, good luck :-)

Just go down to the Home Depot or whatever and look at what they have. They'll all be mounted on a display panel and you should be able to turn each one on to hear how loud they are. They should also have a display that basically tells you how many CFM (cubic feet per minute) a particular sized bathroom requires. You can then look at models with similar specs and pick one within your budget.

vent fans have a noise rating as well as a flow rating. get the biggest cfm rated fan, and the lowest sones. that Will also be the most expensive, but why spend money on one that won't do the job?
