Problems hooking up overhead fan?

okay, I am having problems with this stupid fan, I am sure I have the wires connected right, the green is connected to the bare, the white to the white, black to black and red to blue. But when I turn on the switch, the fan doesnt turn on. Its not the breaker, it has power.. what should I do?

Additional Details

yes i tried the chains, but it still doesnt work. I just tried rewiring it, (ceiling first) white to white, black to blue, red to black, and bare to green, and the second switch worked with the fan, but the light still doesnt work.

i have 2 switches and no idea what you mean by hots

the fan has a blue, green, white, and black wire. the ceiling has white, black, bare and red. I have no idea what to hook up and what not, and I moved this from one room to another, so I dont have a manual.

okay randy so to attach the fan to one switch attach them both to the black one?

well i tried attaching both the blue and black from the fan to both the black and the red from the ceiling. if they are attached to the black, nothing works. If they are attached to the red, the light works, but the fan still doesnt

okay i have the light turning on, but the fan isnt working, i think you are right and that there is a problem with the switch wiring. Is it difficult to fix this?

Did you try to pull the little chains?
I take it that you have two wall switches. 1 for fan and 1 for light.
Update you question as necessary.

In the ceiling:red and black bring power to fan/light. It appears one of these wires is not working as it should
After reading your info again, your best bet is to hook black and blue on fan together and connect to either red or black in box ( one will work and one wont. So you may have to do this twice) you would then have to use pull chains to have fan on and lights off and vice versa.
Dont forget to cap unused wire

the wires coming out of fan are white neutral, and the green or bare ground on the 2 colors are 1 for fan 1 for light. now the tricky part. in a light switch there is no neutral. use a circuit tester if you have 2 switches then you have to find two hots when switches are on. if there is only 1 switch the two colored on the light are put together and connected to the switched hot wire and the white on the light is hooked to the unpowered wire contact me if you have more questions. let me know how many switches and hots

The red to blue connected together and to nothing else is your problem. You need to determine which wires are coming from the switch and which ones are coming from the fan. Typically you would have one black, one white and one green or bare coming from the switch. You did not say anything about a light in the fan but from the wires you described it sounds like there is one. Some manufactures use blue for common, I do not know for sure if this is true for your fan. However if it is then you would connect white to white then bare to blue and then both blacks and the red together. Look in the installation or owners manual, there is usually a wiring diagram in it telling you how to connect all the wires My suggestion about how to connect the wires is only an educated guess.

One switch might go to an outlet or its not hooked up right. If you wanted to you could just hook the red and black on fan to the black in box and then they would both work but you would have to use the chains to turn the fan on and off.
