Help with Agar Agar!?
I'm trying to make a spreadable jelly for use on toast and biscuits and all manner of bready delights, and I tried making a recipe for a pu erh tea jelly (I'm a fan of teas), and it turned out to be a gelatin. What I'd like to know is whether or not agar agar can be used for such a thing or if I should invest in a different gelling agent?

You can try using agar but I didn't like the results. I felt the agar made my fruit gummy, not jelly.
I would recommend using pectin. Pectin comes in both powder and now a gel form. Pectin is the natural gelling agent in fruits like berries and apples. America pectin is actually the leftovers from processed apple juice (peel) so it's a vegan OK product.
Most places that sell canning/jarring items would sell pectin. In my area, hardware stores actually sell canning equipment and pectin.

It's more like a Jello then a Jelly...I would try something else unless you melt it or reheat it so make it softer

If you use agar agar it will turn out like jell-o and you can't really spread it.
Use fruit pectin instead. It works great and I use it all the time. It also tastes better..
