Infected Cartilage peircing????????

I have a huge boil like thing in the middle of the back of my ear, right by my cartilage peircing, and it kind of trails off and connects to the peircing, i took it out and sanitized the earring and put peroxide on my ear.

Do i need to go to a doctor or just wait for this to go away on it's own?

I've had the earrings over a year, how long can i leave them out without the holes closing?

Should i bother putting them back in, or just leave them out and let the holes close, and not get it redone?

I'm 15.

Ignore them and don't put plastic in your ear. Also, don't use peroxide.

Did you get them done at Claire's or another place with a piercing gun? That's probably the problem and what caused it. However, the boil could be a lot of things...I wouldn't take the piercing out again and I would go to a real piercer and have them look at it. Make sure where you go is reputable and clean, there are a lot of piercing places out there that are crap.

Sea salt soaks are best for cleaning. 1/4th of a teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to 8oz of hot water. Soak the piercing twice a day for 10 minutes each soak. Never use alcohol, peroxide, bactine, neosporin, or any other type of cream.

Yep, claires with a peircing gun. I've decided to just let both holes close. They honestly arent worth the trouble.

Go pick up the plastic jewelry. You are having a reaction to your metal jewelry. Clean the piercing with tea tree oil, and coat the backside of your PLASTIC jewelry with triple antibiotic ointment. Do this 3-4 times a day, until the infection goes away. (probably about 14 days) I would keep the plastic jewelry in for at least 6 months, before you try metal jewelry again. Best bet is save up for 14 K gold... Spencers has all kinds of fun jewelry, and some of it is fairly high quality.
