What is atomic level and what does "on an atomic level" mean?

I am only in grade 9 so please give me something i would understand!

A sentence to put this into context would be helpful, but I think the most likely meaning is about distance and size scales that are comparable to the size of an atom.

If that's the case, then "On an atomic level" means "at the same sort of size as an atom".

For example: "On an atomic level, everything is mainly empty space" = "When you're looking so close at something that you can see individual atoms, you'll see that it's mainly empty space."

Or: "He's so thick, his brain can only be seen on an atomic level!" = "His brain is about as big as an atom!".
