  • iMac crashes on startup / invalid sibling link / Help!?

Hi, I have a problem with my iMac mid-2007 (10.7.5), it crashes on startup. I tried holding the alt key, choose my volume, but then the apple logo and a loading bar appear but it shuts down before the loading bar even gets to the middle.

The disk utility says it cannot repair the Macintosh HD volume. I also tried the Single User Mode but it said "invalid sibling link (4,302) - Disk full error - Volume Macintosh HD could not be repaired". In the fsck function it came up with the message "/dev/rdisk0s2 (hfs) EXITED WITH SIGNAL 8". I also tried the "umount /dev/disk0s2" and then "fsck_hfs -r /dev/disk0s2" method on the terminal but it said the same thing.

I guess i'll have no choice but to reinstall the OS but the thing is I really would like to get my files back before I do so… but how can I do it if my iMac won't even boot and let me access them!?

    Thanks in advance.

  • What movie is this scene from?

I already asked this question but only got one answer ("The Mummy") and it wasn't correct. So, here, let me try again:

The only thing I remember from this movie is that there's a battle scene in which the hero is on a tower with other soldiers. They are outnumbered by the enemy and many soldiers on the tower are killed but the hero, very clever guy, puts the corpses back as if the soldiers were still alive and makes the enemy believe that they have many many soldiers...

I think the movie is in color...

    Thanks in advance!

(It is not Fiddler on the roof nor Lawrence of Arabia)

  • What film is this scene from?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, I do not have many details about the movie i'm looking for but i'll do the best I can: the only thing I remember from it is that there's a battle scene. The hero is on a tower with some soldiers (I think it takes place in a village somewhere in the desert and I THINK it looks a bit like Lawrence of Arabia - clothing, cinematography, etc.) So, this guys are outnumbered by the enemy and many soldiers on the tower are killed but the hero who's a very clever guy, puts the corpses back as if the soldiers were still alive and makes the enemy believe that they are the ones who have lots of soldiers.

Now, I know it isn't much but I hope someone out there can help me find the title of the film!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Does the optical audio cable support DTS-HD, TrueHD, etc.?

    Hi,

So what's better between the HDMI and Optical cable? Does the optical support the same formats as the HDMI? If I watch a blu-ray on my ps3 connected with an optical cable to my receiver, will I get the most of the sound?

    Thanks!

  • How should I connect my PS3 to HDTV to Receiver?

    Hi,

Right now my PS3 is connected to my HDTV with HDMI and since my receiver is "old" and doesn't have HDMI input, I have to find a way to connect it another way. What would be the best possible option? At this moment, the receiver is connected to the tv with an AV Cable... but wouldn't an Optical cable be better?

Someone told me I could use the optical cable to connect the ps3 to the receiver for lossless audio but then the sound wouldn't come from the TV, just the speakers... and I don't want that. I'd like the sound to come from both (that way I can choose to listen to the sound coming from the tv only if I want)

I'm new in this matter so, please... HELP! lol

    Thanks in advance

  • Camera settings for broadcast HDTV?

    Hi,

I wondered if it was correct that 50 mbps is the lowest mbps a camera should have to be broadcast safe? If it is, why is that? It means footage shot on T2i, 60D or other semi-professional camera wouldn't be allowed?

    Thanks in advance

  • Julio Cortazar's novels' rights?

    Hi,

I'm making a short film based on the short story "Continuity of Parks" in french and I wondered where can I find information about the rights for the three versions (original spanish one, the french one and the english one).

    Thanks in advance!

It won't have anything commercial to do with it but I wish to sent it to festivals and wanted to get the grant from Celtx but many say to get the rights cleared so I wonder if I really need to pay for them or... or what

    Hi,

I just shot a short film with a T2i (24p, 1080p) and now that my footage is on my imac I wonder what is the next best thing to do to start editing (on FCP). I saw lots of people saying it's better to convert the files to be able to edit better but then I saw there was this ESO Movie Plugin for FCP... but not for the T2i according to the official website... So I thought you guys could help me out with this!

  • What Nikon D7000 lenses do you recommend for low light shooting?

    Hi,

What would be the best lenses (all kind - wide, normal, telephoto) for low light shooting with a Nikon D7000 (to achieve something like Vincent Laforet's Nocturne, meaning that the video won't have much noise and will look cinematographic)

    Thanks

  • Best low-light video DSLR?

    Hi,

I want to buy a HDSLR and was wondering what would be the best for low light shooting and also overrall (without considering the price)? Let's say... your top 5.

The Nikon D7000 seems to be a good choice overall but it looks like the video is not that great... I don't know if that's true though...

The T2i seems to be the most affordable choice but lacks the 2 slots for example... and I don't know how good is the video..

The Mark II looks like it's really the best but it's "old" so I'm not sure about what replaced it? The D3s?

    Thanks

  • What memory card capacity should I use for Nikon D7000 HD video?

    Hi,

I am going to buy a Nikon D7000 and going to shoot 1080p 24fps video. I wonder what memory cards I should get. What I wish to know is how much video I can shoot with let's say a 8gb and a 16gb. (32 and the others are kind of expensive but if you tell me I can only have 20 min in a 16 gb card then I'll have to buy something "bigger")..

    Thanks in advance

  • Movies where dream becomes reality?

    Hi,

I'm working on a script where the character dreams and at the end realizes that the reality is in fact the dream. Anyway, in order to get ideas on how to make it understand to the audience without using the common ways (flashbacks or voice over) I'd like to get suggestions on movies like 'Jacob's Ladder' where dream and reality get mixed up.

    Thanks
