How are gutters affixed to the sofit/facia of a building? I presume the gutter is not nailed in to the facia of the building, but rather that there must be some kind of strap, affixed to the gutter, that is then nailed in to the roof of the building, probably underneath the shingles, the straps being placed maybe 6-8 feet apart. Anyone actually know about this?3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade ago
I had heard this somewhere before and just wanted to know if its true. Does the sap from the tree somehow damage the shingles on the roof?7 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade ago
Bobby Thompson's dramatic 9th inning home run on Oct 3, 1951...anyone know the exact time of day it happened?
All baseball fans know of this famous event, possibly the most famous home run of all of baseball...we have all seen the film highlights of it. Thompson hits a homer to left field with a man on base, scoring two runs, giving the NY Giants the victory and the NL pennant on Oct 3, 1951.
I would like to know the exact time of day it occurred. I am thinking probably around 3:30 pm, Eastern time, but would like to know the exact minute it happened, does anyone know?2 AnswersBaseball1 decade ago
In the construction business, the customer will sometimes insist that a penalty fee be imposed if the contractor fails to complete the project by the established deadline date. What might be the usual amount of penalty that he would be obligated to pay? $25 per day, $100 per day, what?3 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade ago

I used to have the "top contributor" designation in the History category, but now, it has disappeared...why?
Dont know why this happened, why I would be stripped of this accomplishment after earning it through answering so many questions, many with "best answer". Why would this happen? Its not as though I somehow "un answered" the questions I accepted. How can I achieve something, then have it recognized, then have that recognition removed?3 AnswersHistory1 decade ago
I know in the first round it is 1st vs. 8th (A series), 2nd vs. 7th (B series) and so on, but after that round is completed, how are the winners matched up to determine the opponents for the second round? Would it be A vs D, and B vs C? Or if the 8th seed upset the 1st seed in round one, and 2nd seed defeated 7th seed, would that make it # 2 vs #8 (with #2 having home ice advantage?) How is it that a company's stock price can "open" higher than what it closed at the previous day of trading?
I often see this with stocks that are "on the move" but never understood how that is possible. It might "close" on Tuesday with a price of $10, and then "open" on Wednesday with a price of $12.50. How can it gain so much overnight, when the market is closed for trading? I know there is "after hours trading", but these stock purchases cannot be registered since the market is closed. I would appreciate comments from nurses or other workers in hospitals, hospices, and nursing homes about this question.....
I have heard that people who are close to death often see angels flying over them before they pass away. What accounts for this phenomena, how does one explain this? What do these people say about what they are seeing? Is there a medical explanation for this?

Yesterday I discovered that King Richard the Lionheart of England did not even speak the English language (he spoke only French). Given that he is one of the most revered kings in English history, (they even have a statue of him outside of Parliament), I thought that was pretty strange.
Another strange phenomena involves Charlie Watts, the longtime drummer of the Rolling Stones. During an interview he was asked what other groups he likes to listen to. He replied that he doesnt listen to rock n roll records because he doesnt like rock (he likes jazz). Strange for such a well known rocker.
Does anyone know of any other oddities, or strange peculiarities, involving well known figures in history or culture such as these two? I just find these little known "opposite of what one would think" facts curious and interesting.4 AnswersHistory1 decade ago
Saw their commercial on cable one night, but cant remember their name. They make ergonomic sofas and chairs, mostly in leather, and pride themselves on how comfortable their products are, with lumbar supports and head rests, etc.2 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade ago
Is there an easier way to remove dried concrete from a brick than chipping it off with hammer and chisel?
I would like to salvage numerous bricks removed from my house during renovation, for potential re use later on. The "chip it off" method with hammer and chisel is just too slow and painstaking, is there a detergent or solvent or something to soften the concrete first, then brush or rinse it away?1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade ago
