The plot had to do with an interstellar data network. The villain was the head of security for the organization, who tried framing some innocents to increase his won power.
The good guys included an expert who worked for the organization and a hacker he recruited.
What made the novel particularly interesting to me was that in this society, people wore labels indicating their personality type.
