I am a new learner of research and would like some help deciding which topics (variables) to focus and producing a good question. Broadly, I want to focus on cognitive development in adolescents. Here are some questions I came up with. Let me know if they are too narrow or broad. How does the neighborhood affect the cognitive development of adolescents? What are the effects of social media (or maybe technology use) on adolescents' cognitive development? How does cultural rites of passage impact self-efficacy and self-esteem of adolescents?

My research question is: What are the coping strategies to reduce traumatic stress in high school children exposed to hurricanes? I was told to conduct a meta-analysis for this project. How would I go about explaining this method in terms of my question? Any thoughts or advice? Thanks for your help!1 AnswerHomework Help1 year ago
Anybody has any advice on how to come up with a good research question? I know I want to study cognition, learning, and instruction.?
While I know the topic I'm interested in studying at the doctoral level, I specifically do not know what I should study, especially in terms of cognition/cognitive processes. I recently thought of researching the impact of visual imagery on learning. Any examples of research questions would be greatly appreciated!3 AnswersTeaching1 year ago
What questions should I expect to be asked during a group interview as well as a solo interview to become a teacher?
I have applied to a teacher training program and passed the first interview session, which was a phone interview. Upcoming, I have a group and solo interview that I need to prepare for. Could you help me out with possible questions I will be asked during both interviews?

I applied to a graduate school in WI and have to complete a tuition evaluation (determine residency status). For three years, my permanent address was in Woodruff, WI. My spouse got into a school in California. We decided to move to California and rent our house. Because I wanted to finish the year out at my WI job, we decided that I would stay with a friend in Minocqua, WI until January. Then I will move to California and find a job. We did fill out an 'address change' (WI to CA) with the United States Postal Service. Would my permanent address continue to be Woodruff, WI or would it be the Califonia address? Also, would my current address by Minocqua, WI or would it be the California address (since I'm moving there in January)?

The course has to be either an upper-level undergraduate course or a graduate course.1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)4 years ago
To get into grad school, should I focus on making my undergrad GPA stronger by taking undergrad courses or should I take grad courses?
I applied to a few graduate schools and was denied acceptance. When I inquire about the reasoning for the rejections, low overall undergraduate GPA was the response.
I figured my GPA would have been a problem, but I just wanted to see if I would actually get in on the account of huge improvement and explaining the reason for my low GPA. My first attempt at college was very poor. When I transferred to a different school, years later, my college performance had drastically improved, barely making the required GPA.
What should I concentrate on to gain acceptance to graduate school: undergraduate GPA or graduate courses, or both?
I appreciate your opinions and experiences with similar situations.2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)5 years ago
What if someone obtain conditional legal permanent residency (LPR) through good faith marriage and his/her spouse divorce him/her before applying to remove the conditions on the LPR -- the spouse threatens to [falsely] tell immigration that the person intentionally wanted to stay in the U.S. -- could this prevent immigration from removing the conditions on the LPR? Could the person apply to remove the conditions without the spouse?2 AnswersImmigration5 years ago
