  • Does anyone have any information on working at KBS, SBS, or any other Korean broadcasting stations?

I am a full Korean American who can speak Korean fluently who has lived in America most of her life but is planning to move to Korea after studying more in America. I would really love to work in Korea and in film and tv, such as variety shows, movies, drama specials, etc. For example, I would consider becoming a PD for 1 Night 2 Days, Infinite Challenge, Running man, or working as directors or producers for movies... etc.

I understand how difficult it is to break into the entertainment industry and the television industry. I have read many articles and am NOT just assuming it is going to be easy just because I like shows or dramas. I have loved television and movies all my life, and am definitely going into a film and television major in college.

If anyone knows anyone who works at any of these stations or has any connections or experience working at these places, please respond!

  • Do I have mild ADD?

So I m a junior in high school, and I ve been noticing that my performance in school has been dropping. I ve always been called a "gifted" student in middle school and elementary school, and did well up to freshman year. These are some of my issues...

    - Can t concentrate on things I HATE

    - Have become more and more socially afraid/awkward

    - Sometimes I read passages over and over and over again and still don t understand them.

    - Can focus TOO well on things that I love to the point of infatuation or obsession

    - Super perfectionist with some things, not perfectionist at all and called "lazy" with other things (ex. I can be crazy about straight lines but have an incredibly messy room)

    - Zoning out

    - Mishearing things (sometimes have to be called multiple times)

    - Unusual effort in insignificant things (ex. spending 2-3 hours finding the perfect computer wallpaper)

    - Most of the time numb, but can become overemotional (I ll be blankly staring out a window, but then I ll hear a sad song and want to rip my heart out of my chest)

    - Severe procrastination

    - Constantly distracted by other things

    - Mind often buzzing with useless questions?

    - No motivation to work or fight for something whatsoever, when I used to have a lot.

Please! If anyone has similar symptoms or has mild ADD/ADHD please let me know! I am slowly settling into a deeper and deeper depression...

  • Is this considered looking down upon?

So I've been a part of a friend-trio for 3 years of high school now. One of them has been one of my closest friends since 6th Grade, and the other great friend I met during Freshman year. We've always been incredibly close as a trio, and I love them both.

One of these two however, is a bit on the bossy side and is perfectionist, always working very professionally. She often says things to me like:

"Uhh... Jenna.. that is wrong. You aren't supposed to do this" or "Uhh, you know that was due yesterday right?"

I don't know if I'm just being sensitive, but it really puts me in a bad mood because she always ends up correcting me or believing her opinion is right. I feel inferior and incapable whenever she says things like this, and lately it has really been getting on my nerves. I am a very proud person, but last year and this year my grades have been dropping considerably from the Straight-A Asian I used to be, and I feel like people are seeing this as an opportunity to boss me around and see me as inferior. What do you think?

  • I feel like I'm giving up?

I have to do well in school.. I have relatively high standards (Asian...) and I usually do very well in high school... but Sophomore year didn't end well for me with grades (started with straight As and went down to Cs) and now Junior year is beginning to look the same.

What frightens me the most is not that I am doing bad, it is the fact that I feel like giving up instead of stressing out, crying, but pushing through the work...

What do I do to get back on track? The fact that my first response to a bad grade is "Oh well..." or "I should have done better..." or "what can I do?" and then letting it go is a big problem. I just feel numb... and I have lost the fight in me that I've always had...

  • I started singing nasally and am running out of breath?

I used to sing all the time, and I still do.

However, nowadays, I've noticed that my voice has become very nasally and most of the pressure is going through my nose and around it. However for me this creates a ringing in my throat that I think(?) is a vibrato. I'm not sure when I started singing like this, but it is now difficult to go back.

Another thing is I have started to run out of breath while singing, and my nose area begins to burn slightly whenever I try to hold it out longer.

What could be my issue and how can I solve it?

    Thank you!

  • My future profession? (I still have no idea what I want to do)?

When I was younger I really wanted to become a vet. I held onto that dream until I reached this year, Sophomore year of HS, where I got into music and now really want to be a singer.

Honestly speaking, it's pretty unrealistic for me to randomly audition for companies and become a singer. But for some reason, that's the only thing I see for myself right now. Every other job seems really boring and I feel that I won't be satisfied...

I LOVE music but if I were to major in some type of music, in my opinion it would be all or nothing, as in "Work at ____ Entertainment" rather than trying to survive on youtube videos (We've still got some awesome singers on youtube :) No hate!)

I also enjoy filming and making videos, but I cannot imagine myself in any other job, and the jobs listed here are quite risky.

What should I do? And how can I find a (realistic) job that I want to go into?

  • Is this considered cheating?

I am currently taking US AP 1, and I have to annotate a lot of chapters from the textbook American Pageant, which is incredibly long. *This is not a formal homework assignment, it is only for my own good.*

HOWEVER, I found a website with the online textbook and also another website for notes:

    http://apnotes.net/ch3.html

I always read them over completely, (and the chapter too) and I add some of my own stuff in... These outlines are definitely super helpful and in a great format for me... but I feel like I am cheating because all of my other friends tell me they almost died and take around 2-3 hours to annotate just one chapter while it only takes me around an hour.

Is it wrong to short-cut like this and use already-written notes?

If anyone has any experience in these types of classes, please say so!

  • I really want to be a YG Trainee?

I'm definitely not one of those kids who have "listened to hip-hop since I was born" or "have danced since I was 5" or anything.... I've always enjoyed singing but never really considered myself above average, and I've never danced except a few sexy moves I developed myself... but for some strange reason, even though I know I wasn't born with talent I still want to audition for YG and become a singer! It's been bothering me for a whole year now, and I'm just unsure whether I should go for it or not... I feel like there's a 95% chance I won't get in but I'm still holding on to that 5% chance...

I'm just insecure because I haven't always dreamed about being a singer, and it's only been a year since I've been working on my voice alone... I love all the YG Artists and aspire to work with them someday...

I know the process will be tough but if I was even given the chance to be a trainee I know that I would go ALL-OUT and work the hardest.

Has anyone else experienced this confusion?

  • Incredibly Jealous about YG Entertainment New Artists? (New Girl Group, Akdong Musicians)?

Hey guys... I was just feeling utterly helpless and I was just wondering if you feel the same. This is about YG Entertainment and Akdong Musicians and the new girl group that is said to come out soon. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever been so jealous in my life... I’ve always wanted to become a singer in that company and be able to create my own work and be in a group as well, but I am already 16 and I feel that I am too late to audition.

Plus, my singing is average but I know that I can improve. I guess what bothers me the most is that I am currently living in a sucky situation and not doing well in school while (especially the girl group) the artists are either having dance practice, recording in the studio, having concert rehearsals, or getting debut albums ready. Is it just me?

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE YG and all the artists in it, but am I the only one feeling really helpless, running out of time to audition and bitter that I can’t live out my dream like they are now?

Because I’m so jealous and such a downer on everyone else, who is excited, I really am not looking forward to the girl group’s debut... don’t worry it’s just me being incredibly jealous and bitter... but when they do debut and do incredibly well it’ll just remind me how much more of a failure I am and how I cannot live out my dream because I am not as talented as they are.

  • YG Audition 2013/ Past Audition (Live or Mail) Experience?

Hi! Does anyone know if YG's doing a global audition and around when it'll come to the US? I wanted to try out but I'm too scared and I don't think I'm skilled enough yet ...

  • Does anyone know any YG/SM/JYP or other company trainees?

If you do or know some pretty reliable sources...

    1. How did they get in and what was the process like?

    2. How tiring is daily life?

    3. Can you get dropped even if you work hard?

If you could make your answers as detailed as possible I would appreciate it! thanks!
