I have been reading articles about history of drug addiction in USA. Almost all the articles say that though drugs like cocaine, marijuana etc have in use in US and Europe since the 19th century. It started getting into the hands of the American middle class from the 1960s till the 80s until a severe crack down came from early 90s. The three decades (60s, 70s and 80s) devastated the lives of millions of Americans.
My questions are...Why happened in these three decades that led to high usage of drugs by young Americans? Were people like Barry Seal (recruited by CIA) to smuggle drugs into US? Why would the CIA do such a thing to hurt America? Was the KGB involved in this as well?2 AnswersHistory3 weeks ago

My girl friend lost her job few months ago when Covid-19 struck. The firm she was working for had to lay off a lot of staff. During her stay at home, she started experiencing depression. She started calling all her friends and relatives to speak to them about her unemployment problems. They had no solutions to offer. I suggested that she should take some online courses to develop new job skills to make her more marketable. She did not listen. She ate a lot. Slept a lot. Sometimes she speaks about committing suicide. Sometimes she speaks boldly about overcoming all her problems. Her moods swings from one extreme to the other. We had a heated argument three weeks ago and I stopped talking to her. She called me many times but I did not pick up her calls. She ran into deeper depression. Yesterday, I started missing her so badly that I gave her a call. She started crying over the phone. She said she eats only once a day now because "she does not feel like eating at all" and "she feels let down by everyone." When I saw her, she looked like she had lost a lot of weight. I really don't know how to help her. I want her to be happy and healthy. Any advice?2 AnswersMental Health3 months ago
In the last few years we have been hearing a lot of news about drones delivering packages to homes. So far we have not seen any such drones in operation. What are the legal and technologically challenges companies face when using drones to deliver packages? I read in one report that overhead cables and clothes lines confuse the drones to an extent that they cannot manoeuvre around these cables and wires to deliver the package. If that is a serious challenge, will over cables be buried underground or will more advanced AI help manoeuvre the drones. What other challenges do businesses face? Will cities go through major transformation in future? Are drones a big hype because they are so impractical for delivery usage?2 AnswersAircraft3 months ago

I know a person who has a law degree. He has a high opinion of his own abilities and expects everyone to listen to him just because he is a Law graduate. He has never won any case and his private law firm has collapsed. He is now is moving from one counselling job after another advising people on financial and mental health issues despite lacking any training on counselling, Finance or mental health issues. He cannot take any criticisms, but expects everyone to listen to what he has to say. When anyone tries to contradict him, he will immediately raise his voice before that person has finished saying. He carries a superiority complex. What is the right word to describe such people?2 AnswersWords & Wordplay6 months ago
