  • I've replaced quite a few bulbs in my home with LED bulbs... One bulb  continues to glow after being shut off.    Electricians? Any ideas?

This is not the temp afterglow. This glow is permanent and will be there after lights have been off for more than 12hrs!...

  • Is this a string or a rope?

let's say you have three pieces/lengths of fiber: a thick thread, a medium thickness string, and a thin rope. Which one is the thread, string and rope? At what THICKNESS does thread become string? At what THICKNESS does string become rope? Moreover... How exactly DO you classify thread, string or rope?

  • A sinusoidal wave is traveling along a rope...?

you have heard this question if you've studied waves: A sinusoidal wave is traveling along a rope. The oscillator that generates the wave completes x vibrations in t seconds. etc...

What I want to know is... has anyone actually duplicated this experiment with a "Rope?"

I work as a lab tech and have been having problems trying to get a working model that uses a rope and not a string. any suggestions??? Please do NOT suggest that I use any of the following: string, slinky, springs, etc... i need to be able to use rope.

  • I need help finding the title of a book i read when i was a child?

The book was about a cat who had died and wanted to return to earth to see how her owner was doing. other cats could see this "ghost cat" and humans could not. She had a basket that she was able to fly around in. I thought the name of the book was "Arabella" . I'm pretty sure that that is the cat's name. If you remember reading this book, and you know the title and author, would you mind posting that information please?

  • Parent in need of Parents advice... help?!?

I have a 15 yr old daughter. She left her journal out open to a page that shocked me. This isn't a privacy issue btw. If i turned the page - that's where i draw the line. What I saw on the page has me concerned. Me , My wife, and both our kids are all Christians... but what she has written was not very Christ like. Her use of foul language really disturbes me. and detailed info on her friends sexual behaviour....stuff that she is wanting to experience now. My daughter is well loved in this house... me and her mom have been married almost 18yrs. yet in her words, she "has a really sh---y life!" so... what do i do now? what would be the best way to talk to her about all this?????

  • title and author challenge for Sci-Fi?

I have a challenge for all you sci-fi affectionados: i need the title and author to a story I read some time ago...

one of the main characters is a star (astronomy type - not hollywood) that is sentient. the other main character is a young man or woman that has a mental link to this star - they can hear each others thoughts.

This star can move under its own power and they are having it investigate a black hole. the end of the story was unusual. the star starts dying as it gets closer to the black hole; in fact it starts screaming! since time slows down the closer you get to the event horizon, the person with the mental link to the star has to listen to it die for the rest of his/her life and eventually goes insane!

Can you help me with the title and author please?

  • college professor discrimination?

a friend of mine attending college in the U.S. is having problems with a college professor... the student is from England and the Prof is from India. The Prof has been really rude to this student, as well as grading "inconsistencies" (i.e. she gets points taken off when others answer the same way on a test)

This has gotten to the point where she is debating on whether or not to file discrimination grievance paperwork.

Has anyone from England experienced this "animosity" from a Professor from India or other Hindu related culture?

  • Can anyone tell me: home court ratio of wins vs losses?

Which team has the stronger home court ratio (win to loss) the Celtics or the Lakers.

This information would be comparing the avg total wins vs the avg total losses during an average season.

I ask because i seem to recall that more often than not, Boston is rarely beaten at home.

If you find this info - can you include the source please?

    Many thanks

  • searching for the lyrics to a song i once heard.?

ok - here is a tough one...

I once heard a southern gospel or country song and want to find it again. It have been a few years and i have no clue as to who sang it (i remember is was sung by a man and woman duet) or the song name.

all i remember is that in the song they were singing about their marriage... and the phrase "state of the union" was used.

I know this is a long shot, and I am not getting my hopes up too high. But if anyone knows this song... could you please provide me with artist, title of song, and title of album?

and before anyone answers with this: no, this is not about the punk rock song! it would have been either southern gospel or maybe country?
