  • CAN we prevent/correct this now are we doing enough?

The lawyer for a Yemeni man being held at the US prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, says his client slashed his wrist in an apparent suicide attempt during a meeting with him at the prison.

Latif, who is about 33 years of age, was captured by Pakistani forces after leaving Afghanistan and handed over to US authorities.

Military authorities say he is a suspected member of al-Qaeda who fought alongside the Taliban, but he says he is a victim of mistaken identity and only went to Afghanistan for medical treatment.

  • Do you think OBAMA CAN Make the Tax System More Fair and Efficient?

Do you think he can do it?

DO YOu think this Can this help close the gap

between big pay less and small business and middle class and the elite?

I REMEMBER in my 20's a millionaire specialist md i dated paid FAR less tax than me a full time working student. This should not be!

To Make the Tax System More Fair and Efficient

End Tax Haven Abuse: Building on his bipartisan work in the Senate, Obama will give the Treasury Department the tools it needs to stop the abuse of tax shelters and offshore tax havens and help close the $350 billion tax gap between taxes owed and taxes paid.

Close Special Interest Corporate Loopholes: Obama and Biden will level the playing field for all businesses by eliminating special interest loopholes and deductions, such as those for the oil and gas industry.

  • WHO WILL YOU HIRE IN NOVEMBER?

FROM Which Do You Want To Hire?

    Tue, 09/23/2008 - 11:25pm — Suzi LeVeaux ON REPUBLICANSFOROBAMA.ORG

It seems to me that far too little emphasis is put on the intelligence of the person we entrust with governing our nation. We look for a person to agree with us, and one with whom we would like to have a beer, as they say. I don't know about you, but I don't want someone like me to be president. I want someone smarter than me, someone who is able to take in all of the variables in a situation, and think it through to a conclusion that is best for America. With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts, a weak dollar, broken health care system, skyhigh Federal spending, the mortgage crisis and foreclosures and now the Wall Street meltdown, this is an unusually critical election year.

There are many ways for us to gauge the intelligence of a candidate, some obvious, some more subtle. But I think a good starting place to measure intelligence is their education records. So lets's take a look, then decide which team you want to hire:

    Obama:

    Occidental College - Two years.

Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.

Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna *** Laude

    & Biden:

University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.

Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

    vs.

    McCain:

United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 of 899

    & Palin:

Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester

North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study

University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism

    Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester

University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

  • have you read this? Mccain's/cindy's family 4Obama?

what does this mean to you?

McCain’s sister-in-law is an Obama supporter. Cindy McCain’s half sister just might be cut out of the family will considering where her loyalties lie. “I have a different political standpoint,” Kathleen Hensley Portalski said in an interview with Us Weekly, published online Thursday. “I’m voting for Obama.” She said that the Democratic presidential nominee’s proposals for America “more positive and I’m not a big war believer.” Portalski has the same father (James Hensley) as her mega-rich sister, Cindy. He founded Hensley & Company, the Phoenix area Anheuser-Busch distributor. Cindy McCain is heiress to her father’s stake in the company.

  • any help for disbled not drunk homEless vets?

    disblededtoo poor for help

need gi billor vocrehab too bad youll never get there,.

know any HOMeLESS WITH SAVINGS ACCOUNT?

again ALL the help goes to the rehab programs. like this one

The HUD/VASH program is a limited grant. There are 30 slots now which are filling up and they expect 30 more in October. The person must be a veteran, homeless, earn $15,000-$25,000 per year, be willing to be in treatment if needed and participate in case management for 5 years. It is in conjunction with Section VIII Housing, so the person would pay 1/3 of the rent and the 2/3 is paid for 5 years. Currently it is being facilitated through Long Beach and the person needs to be willing to live in Long Beach for at least 2 years. The case manager would help them find an apartment and negotiate with the landlord but the person needs to be able to pay the 1/3 deposit money for the apartment.

  • how many agree with the GOP spending spree?

They always blame the dems, dump the bill on us, but they are planning perm bases in the middled east and spending billions ... trillons. till all but an elite few R broke. permenantly getting rid of our middle class. and worse.

while the social programs and infastructure here is rotting.

i havent heard anyone but Obama talk about being both Humane and Accountable in social, military and infastructure needs..

my understanding is capitalism tempered by socialism (programs that do what they say and that work) made Good and Great nation, both.

i hear about letting the sick and elderly suffer or becomming a military state or gop runaway spending and war. from various candidate camps.

i dont hear billary third term having any real answers that are both humane and demonstrate accountablity significant and change.

and mcCains in the past said more occupations and actions war all the time.. this is simply frightening to me.

ANY besides Obama have real hope for a future we can live with?

  • has anyone read about the GOP strategy change for michigan?

WELL NOW that THE GOP BANKRUPTED THE WHOLE COUNTRY and say forget the people(social) and the infrastructure.. there are more wars in our future.. so glad to see they are looking at the local economy... enough to get votes.

i'm glad OBAMA is looking at real permanent Change that's good for all. Because he has a JD degree in constitutional law and considers war a far last resort and is for all the people and more. Which one of the GOP can be held as equal to the Potential Good of Obama?
