  • Home theater vs car audio SPL?

Why is home theater SPL numbers so much smaller than in car audio?. I have a dayton Ultimax 18 that can reach down to 116 dB at 19 hz. Yet my friend has two 12's in his car that can do a 152 dB. the lowest note he can hit is 36 hz, while mine is about 18 hz. My 18 should be able to out perform his two 12's, yet there's a huge 40-45 dB difference between both systems, but my 18 sounds louder and more powerful. To be able to double your spl you must have 4 times the subwoofer and 4 times the power. This doesn't explain this huge difference in dB

  • AMD Dual Graphics Question?

    I have a Saphire 6950 and a APU A-10 5800K with an MSI FM2-A75MA-E35.

I am trying to "crossfire" the two, however this option does not show up. When I go into device manager, it clearly states that I have the latest drivers for the CPU and the discrete GPU module (7660D) as well as the Radeon 6950. No where in CCC does it have a tab for crossfire. However if I go into CCC, under information , and hardware, it says "primary adapter" which is AMD Radeon 6900 HD Series". And below that it says "Disabled adapter" which is AMD Radeon HD 7660D. Now how to I enable this adapter and have both of them enabled?

I know that my motherboard supports dual graphics AND overclocking. When going into BIOS, and intergrated graphics there is an option to chose between PEG and IDG. Not both. Any help?

    thanks.

  • Computer CPU/GPU question?

I recently put a lot of my money into a computer, and I want to get all of the possible power out of it, I read somewhere online that you need to hook up the gpu to the display in order for it to actually work, is it the same with my CPU & motherboard? Am I only able to run one piece of hardware at a time? What the hell. I have a quad core amd and a sapphire 6950, with an msi motherboard

  • Display problems from my computer to my TV?

I got a new computer, so my old one was hooked up to the same 46" display (Sony Bravia KDL 46EX500) and it was working fine, it was connected via the oldest connection (DVI I think) but now my computer is connected via HDMI. Now there are black bars on the bottom, top, left and right, making the image smaller than it should be. How can I completely fix this problem? I tried adjusting the resolution under the settings in control panel on the computer, as well as the TV settings, any suggestions or answers would be appreciated thanks

  • Which Subwoofer has the most bass/kick to it?

I'm looking for 12: subs that have a high sensitivity and a high RMS rating in order to obtain the highest SPL possible from a far distance. (Yes I know that sensitivity doesnt really matter in car audio because all the bass is trapped in the car, but when it comes to Public Adress speakers, sensitivity can change the SPL alot. Ex from 20 feet away : 110 dB sensitivity and 500 RMS = 130.3 dB or 85 dB sensitivity and 500 RMS = 105 dB

    I'm looking for 2 subwoofers that meet the following criteria;

    *12" Sub

    *Single 4 ohm voice coil

    *Fs : 18-28 hz

    *Sensitivity of atleast 93

    *300 watts RMS or more

*Compatible with a box around 2 cubic feet

  • Home Stereo, Equalizer and Subwoofer Question?

I built two 12" subs for my home stereo, each 4 ohms, wired to a 4 ohm 2 channel stereo receiver. I recently bought an equalizer (Technics SH-8016) and when I have it all wired up (Line in to line out and line out to line in on my tape 2 channel), the subwoofers start to distort more and more as you turn the volume up on the receiver. Which is to say, my subs sound much better and hits harder without any equalizer what so ever. Something must be wrong, any help?

  • Drugs/Emotion/Life Problem?

So my friend is doing MDMA and cocaine pretty much everyday and it pains me to know this, and he finally just told me why and he said they it was because he hates having emotions, weather its being sad or happy, he hates it, he likes being numb and disconnected. Apperantly his mom was pronounced dead twice already and stuff so he's used to masking his emotions all the time. I want to help him and he seems like a good kid, ideas?

  • What is the best drug to be on to watch movies?

I thought movies while youre baked is cool, but meh, probably makes me less in it eventually and slower, and more tired. MDMA? Movies and M is fairly incompatible I find... since all I wanna do is move around and talk to people. Acid? Seems like it would be screwed up and not worth the viewing experience. Havent tried either shrooms or acid to watch movies, but anyway what are probably the best drugs to be on to watch movies

  • Stereos and bass question?

I have this sub that I built with no crossover, two tower speakers and two amps. one amp is hooked up to the tower speakers, while the other is hooked up to the sub. for some reason, when I have both bass knobs on full, there is no bass sounds or vibration at all, its just the subs bumping with some mid frequencies coming out of them, but when one receiver has the bass all the way down, and one receiver has the bass all the way up, the woofers on the speakers hooked up to that receiver with the bass up will sound normal and way more powerful then when both receivers are trying to play some low bass notes.

My scale, that is accurate to 3 decimal places is I think jammed, because it always states "full" on it, which means that the weight on it is more then its able to read. Theres nothing on the scale, I tried pushing on it and pulling it, I vacuumed it, blew on it, turned it on, turned it off, turned it on, turned it off, and reseted it a few times and still nothing, what should I do?
