I don't like it. i hope it's overturned. Also, I knew that the president would get his way because taxation is within the perview of Congress. However, This is the gross abuse of tax policy. Since when does the financing of healthcare have anything to do with taxation? Second, how is not purchasing insurance rise to the level of misconduct as to where I'm penalized or punished for doing so? I can see if I lied on my 1040 and I incur a penalty, but insurance has nothing to do with that. This is inappropriate.3 AnswersGovernment8 years ago
Warren Buffet and others like all claim that they want to pay "more" in taxes. I don't believe them. If I were president I'd make them put their money where their mouth is. I would impose an ASSET TAX. I would suspend all income taxes and capital gain taxes for billionaires and mega cap. corporations. Instead I would replace it with a 5% tax per year on their total assets for 5 years. I'd make it a felony to ask for a carve-out, loophole, exemption, or deferment. I could pay off the the national debt and fund Medicare, Medicaid and Defense. Just a thought. I'm well aware of the fact that this will NEVER happen. I also know that that taxing the rich is a bad idea because they take their money and go elsewhere as evidenced in California. But I'd love to see Buffet's face when he has to live by his own words. Let me know what you think.6 AnswersPolitics9 years ago

Obviously anyone making between 250K-999K isn't rich. he or she is affluent. However, i say no and here's why. Rich people will simply take other forms of compensation and/or lower the their salary to the smallest level possible. Furthermore, if taxes are too high, he or she will leave and take their money elsewhere. if this happens and it has happened here, the burden falls on the middle class and poor. All of the projected revenues are not realized. This experiment I find interesting that so has been tried in New York, California and Maryland. All the rich people left. Additionally, no one likes the tax man. Why do people think that the rich want to pay taxes? they don't and neither do you.7 AnswersPolls & Surveys10 years ago
