  • Help me pick a casual shoe for a guy?

    I want to get a casual shoe/chukka to wear with jeans and khakis. I have a pair of suede shoes already and I prefer leather more than suede. A lot of people like the clarks desert boots, but I can't find them for less than 100 dollars, at least the color I want.

    Here is what I found so far that I like, but then my fashion sense might be questionable:

  • Nova Extreme vs Fishneedit vs Odyssea?

    I'm shopping for a 30" light fixture for my 20H tank (will upgrade to 29g soon) but there are too many options. Both the nova extreme and the fishneedit fixtures cost the same - $80. The odyssea fixture has 4 bulbs and it costs $65.

    From what I read the odyssea light fixtures have the worst reflectors. How do the reflectors compare for the nova extreme and fishneedit ones?

  • 15g tank stock. 12 neon tetras + 6 cherry shrimps?

    Hi there,

    I have a 15gallon tank. Lightly planted, under 45w of light 8 hours a day + diy CO2. Will this stock be okay? Or is it too much for the tank? Feel free to add any suggestions regarding the stock.

  • Stocking a 15g tank with 10 neon tetras and...?

    I was wondering what else I can put in my 15 gallon tank with the neon tetras. I noticed as I was vacuuming the substrate, that a lot of granules went down uneaten. So I was thinking if it was a good idea to say... get some bottom feeders, or snails, or shrimps...

    I have some plants in my tank - not heavily planted. I feed my neons tropical crisps, granules, dried shrimp, and bloodworms. They seem to accept the bloodworms more readily than the rest of the food. So I might be getting flakes next time I go to petco.

  • Surface integral of x^2+z^2=4?

    Consider the surface S consisting of the portion of the graph of x^2+z^2 =4 lying over the region R in the x,y plane where 0<=x<=2 and 0<=y<=2-x.

    I dont know how to do this as the function is not f(x,y)... i tried parametrizing x,y,z and taking the cross product but somehow that was wrong.

  • Parametrization of a sphere?

    Find the parametric equations (x = ..., y =...., z=....) of the sphere:

    (x-2)^2 + (y+2)^ + (z-4)^2 = 4

    I know how to parametrize a sphere centered at the origin, but I cant seem to figure out how to do it for one thats it NOT centered at 0,0,0

    I found the partial derivatives and set them equal to zero but I dont know how to solve for them. Help.

    Limit of (2x^2)/(x^2+y^2) as (x,y) -> (0,0)

    The answer is DNE because when x is fixated and y is fixated, they give different answers. But I don't know how to calculate it through the line y=mx. Help?

    The answer at the back of the book is:

    x=3cost, y=3sint, z = 2-sint

    I know you are supposed to change x^2 + y^2 to sin(t)^2 + cos(t)^2 but i dont know how to deal with the 3.

    So I used the arc length formula and got int √ (49 + 49e^(14t) + 49e^(-14t) ) the only thing that occurs to me is to factor out the 49 to make the integral look like 7√(1+e^(14t)+e^(-14t)) ... im stuck after this..

    When I use the arclength formula integral of (f'(x)^2+f'(y)^2+f'(z)^2)^(1/2) the sin^2 + cos^2 seem to = 1 and I end up with... int sqrt(9+25(1)) but the answer is wrong. help?

    y=9cos(5t)

    where P(x,y) is a polynomial in x and y such that the coefficient of y^2 is 25.

    All I know is that you can sub x and y by using the identity sin^2 + cos^2 = 1 but in this case the inside of sin and cos is 5t. So i keep getting the wrong answer.
