  • NYC shopping recommendations?

I'm taking day trips to Manhattan soon for some shopping. Please recommend stores for me to visit *given the restrictions below*:

    1. I am looking for work clothes for a business casual work environment this summer. I am a law student and need to start dressing like an attorney (other than the suits).

    2. I am very small. Petites at J.Crew, Ann Taylor, etc. are cut too big for my frame, as is everything at H&M. Things at the Gap (smallest size available) fit me pretty well, but I want to dress nicer than that.

    3. I am in my mid-20s and don't want to dress like a 30-something in Ann Taylor. I want to be stylish and age-appropriate.

    4. My budget isn't huge. I'd like to spend around $100-$150 per pair of pants, maybe around $75 on well-made collared button-down shirts. (Those limits are a little flexible, esp for a couple key pieces.)

    Please help!

    Thanks! :o)

  • Orange County residents, please help!?

I'm starting my first real grown-up job this summer and want to use a personal shopper to get me started on my first real grown-up wardrobe. I know that all the major department stores offer personal shopping for free. Has anyone used one of them in OC that they would recommend (or would un-recommend)? Please recommend any combination of stores and/or specific shoppers within them. I would prefer Fashion Island, South Coast Plaza, and Irvine Spectrum locations but am open to other suggestions.

I'm on a Macy's-Bloomie's-Nordstrom kind of budget. Neiman Marcus is definitely out, and probably also Saks.

In case this is relevant to the recommendations: I'm looking for business casual outfits to wear in a law firm setting (and I'm in law school, so I need to be dressing like an attorney). I'm in my mid-20s and am petite (in width and height).

    Thanks for your help!

  • Eyeglass frames in NYC? (reposting in a new category)?

I'm going to be in NYC tomorrow (well, today, since it's 2am) just to hang out. I want to try on some nice frames. Is there any place in Manhattan that carries a variety of high-end brands (think Prada, Cartier, Gucci), with a good selection of petite women's frames? Any comments about their level of service is appreciated as well.

    Thanks.

  • Famous used clothes store in Los Angeles?

What's the name of the well-known used clothes store in the LA area (maybe in Hollywood) that gets clothes that were worn in movies and on TV shows? Address and phone number appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • New York hotel recommendations?

Please recommend an inexpensive (max $150/night, preferably $100-125) hotel in NYC. Requirements: private bathroom, clean, good location for tourists (we want to spend a lot of time in Times Square and 5th Avenue shopping). Any websites with good last minute deals would also be helpful.

This is last minute planning -- I'm leaving tomorrow morning. Thanks!

  • How does the Listen Up sound amplifier work?

I just saw a commercial on GSN for this product: http://www.buylistenup.com/. Neither the commercial nor the website explain how the product works in terms of capturing the sound from, e.g., the conversation of neighbors across the street or even the TV. Can anyone tell me how, and how well, this product works?

    Thanks!
