How many feet can a 20AWG lighting wire loaded with 7W/feet go for before burning out?

I have a lot of 25ft strings of lighting with 7W incandescent bulbs (25 bulbs). These are plugged into 220V socket.

Manufacturer suggested using no more than 3 strings in-line (they connect to each other). But the wire is 20AWG and I have gone with 4-5 strings in-line and they did not burn out.

Currently I would need to connect 13 strings (~100 meters) - can I do it without 3 long extension cords and not putting the strings under too much risk?

Please let me know if 20AWG can handle ~2.3kW. (~13 strings 175W each)

    Specs imprinted on wire - "GRACE E215415 (UL) XTW 20AWG (0.519mm2)X2C 105C VW-1 300V"

Thank you so much for your insights!

  • Kitchen counter top height for taller people?

Me and my girlfriend are remodeling our current apartment and we redid the whole kitchen from scratch. We have the furniture assembled (80cm height cabinets+ ~8cm legs) but not yet fixed on the wall and we were wondering if we should get higher cabinet legs to raise the counter top to more suitable height? We are both 184cm in height.

Is there any rule of thumb for height and counter tops?

  • Electronic dartboard vs Regular dartboard?

My girlfriend got the darts fever and wants a dartboard at our apartment...

Is there a big difference between playing on electronic or regular dartboard?

We live in an apartment (not a house with basement), so I am not eager about regular darts, but I could find a wall that we would poke holes into with our darts... Unless there is not a big difference between playing electronic vs regular darts (score keeping is not an issue - we are both good at math)

Looking for advice between two experiences! Thanks!!

    Furniture stairs?

    Hello everyone,

I want to make furniture stairs in a loft that I bought, but a lot of carpenters don't want to take onto this job, as it's not very often that people want furniture stairs in Lithuania.

When it comes to making of them, is there any kind of "catch" why carpenters would not want to make that? The stair part has to be made more durable, right? And there has to be extra support going all the way to the ground, right? I need something close to the photo added.

Also, the height stairs has to get me to is 2.1 meters and stair length should not be longer than 1.7 meters. Is that not too steep?

  • Dew point concern?

I am buying a loft in Kaunas, Lithuania. I will own a top floor apartment and the issue is that roof is not insulated, so I have to do that from inside. My biggest concern is the dew point.

Roof only has ~20cm of expanded clay (Keramzitas in Lithuanian) as insulation.

I plan to do 15-20cm of polystyrene insulation. I will install an A/C (with external unit outside) and will have mini recuperation system to have some sort of air circulation.

Should I worry about Dew Point?

    A/C in a loft?

    Hello everyone,

I just bought a loft in North-East Europe. It's roughly 40 sq.m. in size and has a little radiator for central heating, but I worry that it will not be sufficient (even though the construction company said it should be all good in terms of heat in winter).

Also since loft windows are facing south-east, I worry that summers will be impossible to survive due to hot summers.

These are the reasons I decided I need an AC unit for heating and cooling.

I have talked with several local companies, but they all suggested different solutions trying to please my thoughts provided to them (my mistake for telling them my idea first, before listening to them :( )

I have added layout of the loft. Blue line is the radiator (goes from one wall to the other, just below the window). I have numbered two locations where I think the AC would be best (please do suggest other options if they would come to mind). In position 1 I worry that the air flow would not get to the very other end of the loft, thus not cooling us enough in the summer, but then the "air flow" would be correct. In position 2 the air flow would be wrong, as the air would mainly circulate in the middle of the loft, spreading to the rest of the apartment only as much as I could angle the air flow.

    Any suggestions or thoughts?

  • Asus laptop shutting down after unplugging for power source?

I have refurbished ASUS VivoBook F510UA, 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB SSD+1TB HDD. All works well, except when I start charging my laptop, and after some time unplug it from the power source, it just shuts down. Even if it shows the battery to be full, it shuts down.

SMART test did not show anything out of the norm, Windows battery test also seemed okay...

What might be the problem? Any thoughts?

  • Creating my own website?

I would like to create a website, but I am on super tight budget. I can put in the hours myself, but wouldn't want to become legit web developer/designer.

Can I create a decent website with wordpress and post it a normal domain ( (I'm from Lithuania))?

Could you provide some tips and suggestions on what to focus while doing the research?

    Thanks in advance :)

  • External HDD problems (HDD becomes inaccessible)?

So I've owned Toshiba external HDD for some time and now I can access it for a minute or two and then it just stops the connection to the laptop, although, I can hear how the HDD is spinning. I would love to find a way to save all of my files from the HDD (not having to reconnect the HDD every minute and copy few files at the time, as it is a 1TB disk :D

I tried running SMART diagnostics, but somehow CrystalDiskInfo and SpeedFan software cannot detect it, so I cannot check the status of it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

  • Asus UA305 starts up by itself?

So I've noticed that my laptop tends to turn itself on by itself at random times.

When I put it to sleep sometimes I found it turned on after half a day. Tonight I made a "test" - put it to sleep and the LED on the side was blinking the whole night, but in the morning I noticed that it is already ON......

    What might cause this?

  • Favorite non-time-consuming video games.?

Your favorite game for PC that doesn't require a lot of time? Something like Neighbours From Hell.

Your favorite Android game to play while you have a spare minute, but the kind of game, that doesn't require undivided attention (you can just put your phone down and come back to it in a minute)?

  • US currency stability after upcoming elections?

I am just wondering what are speculations on USD stability in relation to EUR after US presidential elections?

Would USD keep it's value in relation to EUR if D. Trump gets elected (he doesn't really want US to be involved in NATO and EU things as much, so maybe that would influence the currency?)

What could happen if Hillary would be elected?

What would your speculation be :)

(I am no business student or know a thing about currencies, but that just popped into my head :D )

  • Buying refurbished items on Amazon?

Found this deal on Amazon for a laptop - usually ~1000$, but a certified refurbished goes for 669$. It is refurbished at "Discounted Tech store".

Should I get involved with THAT kind of discount?

I would probably do so, but I am currently not in US, so I would only have a chance to test it myself AFTER all the return & warranty expires.

So in my eyes, this is quite the gamble, since the discount is so big :? What do you think.

  • Cost and skill required to create and maintain a simple, plain website?

I need to have a website for my small business.

I need just plain things like about page, photo gallery and price list.

I prefer doing it myself to reduce costs, since it is not an emergency and I like working on things for my business :)

    So it comes down to:

What is the best platform to use for creating a simple webpage?

What is the average cost of a domain?

What is the cost per month for the server space (no email, no nothing)?
