I am 20 years old, and today I have no job and I'm not in college. I do not want any friends (though I do have quite a few "imaginary" friends), I'm currently living off SSI and all I do is listen to music, look at pictures of my favorite cartoon characters on my computer, randomly go around town using public transit, and ruminate about my dreams of traveling. People want me to change this, but I refuse to. I've tried volunteering at several places, but would never last very long there (I'd either get into a fight/argument with the staff, or get bored of it after a week or two). I mean, I volunteered at places I like, but it would never work out. If I got a paying job, the same thing would probably happen. I hate giving up my free time to regularly do things I don't even want to do! I'm not lazy, I just want to do and get whatever I want! It seems like everyone looks forward to getting a job or set life routine after high school, as for me, I just want to do whatever I want! The only reason I've tried to have a career is because some people are pushing me to, and it makes me very angry. People often suggest getting a job that focuses on my interests, but I've technically already tried doing that (by volunteering) and would always fail. Just because I love the subject doesn't mean I would enjoy working for it (in fact, I hate it). I don't want any set career, I just want to do whatever I want! Is this ok, or do I really need to change my life?

Wear a nice pair of trousers or kakhis and a collard shirt or polo with no logos. If you are female, you could also wear a sweater, or blouse. Semi dressy shoes (NO sneakers).

They will ask about your skills and previous experience. If it was from babysitting, delivering newspapers, or even volunteering, tell them a little about your responsibilities when you were doing it. They will want to know why you want to work for the company and why they should hire you.

Do a Google search for interview questions, and spend all weekend videotape yourself answering them. Even get dressed in summer possible interview outfits.

    Hope this helps. Good luck

Ok so I asked this already but I feel I didn’t word it correctly. I am a high school student and I have been working part time at a grocery store for 2 weeks. Now I am currently very sick and had to call it in. (I couldn’t even get off the toilet). Anyway I have taken last minute calls into work and have had no slipups for ANYTHING aside from my bike breaking which I showed them after work. I also try to make it clear that I enjoy working there and would gladly take more hours. This is my first call in and I talked to the manager personally stating that I could come in at a later time if needed but he insisted that because I’m sure I have food poisoning or stomach flue that I stay home. I live in Canada where i’m not sure if it’s legal to fire people for calling in sick. As an opinion do you think they will toss me? What follow up action should I take to ensure I can hold my position? Thanks for the help.

  • What harm can come from me teasing all these middle aged men working in my office?

I am only average looking, but I am young and know how to dress. It's funny that all these middle aged men are staring at me. My best trick is to eat a banana during lunch. Haha. Will any harm come from what I am doing?

I got my first ever job this year in May as a sales assistant. It started off great, I loved waking up in the morning knowing that I am finally earning money. I wasn't the best sales assistant but I got the hang of what I needed to do and what to ask customers and all of that rubbish. However, things started to go south a few weeks ago when the company hired a new girl. I was getting comments from other staff members saying she's better than me and that I am basically a waste of space to the company and should just find somewhere else. Obviously that comment has scarred me and left me feeling uncomfortable attending work. But to be honest, I believe my manager has been my main problem. Reason for this is because it seems like whatever I do is never enough. She is finding to constantly moan about like why aren't you saying it like this and why are you doing that. She regularly compares me to the other girl saying 'I don't want to keep comparing you two but she does this, and she does that' and it kinda just puts you in that mind set where its like what the f*cking point coming here if my job isn't valued. Yesterday my manager lashed out at me and calling me a *****. I suffer with depression and really bad anxiety on a daily basis so when I am being treated like this nearly every day, it makes me uncomfortable to work in that environment. Its just making me really depressed like whenever I've got a day off I spend the majority of the day depressed and worried about work

I called a job about my interview. And the manger asks me to come in to get a copy of my I.D and social security card. Why might they ask for this? And I also didn't have to sign any paperwork either.

Another company, a competitor of my current job, reached out to me for an interview for a position at their company. My current job is casual, I would get 20hrs or less a week, and no benefits.. Some weeks I may not get any work. The other job is at least 40 hours a week, with benefits and the pay is 15$ more than what my current employer is offering. I m going in the interview in couple of days.. If it goes well and they call me back, should I feel bad for taking the new job with the company?

In his case, last time I looked at it, not picked it up, and told him what a text from his wife said and he said, "thanks." This time, his wife said something not meant for my eyes. I did NOT pick up his phone, it was laying in plain sight and the text was right there. I realized I was wrong... I told him... My apology was met with "you don't know boundaries!!!" etc... It seems I don't know right from wrong... He seemed to calm down in next few minutes, and I thought we were okay and I asked (maybe stupid), how he and his wife met. "None of your damn business" was the answer, "stop asking personal questions!" I got a lil mad, too, now... I let this marinate, and then said "you got me to realize how "personal" depends on the individual..." Now he came up to me and said, "you are making me VERY mad!! So mad, that... that I Could..." then he stormed off... Besides that I don't know when to shut my big mouth, which is true... Was this a threat? I have gotten on ppl's nerves in the past, NOTHING this bad has ever happened, though... Should I report this?

I then went to another care home but the long days killed me so 3 months in I left. I then went back to college while working part time as a home carer I did this for 14 months then once again I left (I had left for a few weeks at a time twice in the middle as I believed I had found better jobs, that turned out to be worse). Then I got a small job with people my age and it was ok but the company shut down leaving me with no job. Now I’m working in my “dream job” as a support worker at a children’s day centre for disabled kids, I have always wanted a job here but by hey never had any vacancy’s. Anyway I got this job 6 weeks ago and I was over the moon, but 6 weeks in I’m tired and once again fed up with my job. I struggle with anxiety and that makes me tired as I feel like I have to try really hard to fit in all the time. I’m terrified of doing a job with long hours as I’m always sleepy and this leads to my anxiety being worse then this leads to a massive breakdown and I leave my job. Because iv only done care I can’t find a job in another field as I have no experience. I can’t afford to go back to college and I worry that I will never be able to hold down a job.Am I just lazy? Is it just the type of jobs I’m doing? Will I ever find a job I can stick with? Does everyone hate their job and feel constantly worn out even after a short 7 hour shift?
