I'm a generally quiet person, I like to keep myself. You know the drill. Oftentimes, I don't put my hand up to answer questions in class because I'm worried that I'm either going to get the question wrong and get humiliated, or sometimes I just don't know what's going on in the lesson. Anyway, so the teacher in question is constantly making it an issue that I don't put my hand up enough in class. His first action against it was to move me to the front of the class, which was fine, though I didn't answer that many questions still. The next time that he did this to me, was that he let me out of class 15 minutes late when he knew that I had a 45 minute detention on that same day, causing me to get another. He claimed that this was because I had "contributed enough to the lesson." So skip forward to a new school year, bearing in mind my mother has emailed my head of year group to complain that the teacher had been treating me unfairly, after sending me home in tears. I don't know if they took any action, however, as now that I'm roughly three weeks into the year, he's still treating me unfairly. Recently today, the teacher got within two inches of my face, having to lean on my desk and schoolwork to do so, looked me in the eyes and said loudly to the entire class, "Some people in the class aren't contributing to the lesson," This made me feel very embarrassed and scared, as he was getting way too close to me. I wasn't sure how to react to it, so I just tried to look away.

Basically I've been having a horrible time at school due to developing some medical problems over the summer. It caused me not to be able to concentrate at all the first 2 weeks of school causing me to hand in some appalling homework and seem like I was not putting and effort it. I was trying my best I was finding it really difficult to cope and concentrate as I was not feeling well which was not visible and was going through hell. I'm getting better as I'm on medication but I need to explain to my teachers that this has been going on that I have not just been slacking off. That they should really give me a chance . I'm trying my hardest to catch up but it'll take some time maybe 4 days tops? How do I compose an email?

  • Why do we teach women to cover up instead of teach man to stop being perverts?

Best answer: There is an old saying that a drunk man should be able to stagger down the street with hundred dollar bills falling out of his pockets and not be robbed. The same should be true of women no matter what they wear.

  • I want to be a P.E teacher, is that a bad idea????

Best answer: I'm with the others. If it is what you want go for it. Sometimes PE teaching positions can be difficult to get because there are not as many as some other subjects. But if you are willing to wait or move and find a place that needs you then do it. There are of course pros and cons to teachin.

  • I can't see from the board at school teacher is strict and says she won't move me to the front because she can't assign a seat in the front?

Best answer: If you really can't see well enough to copy from the board, then it IS her business. You mustn't let this go. Speak to your parents and ask them to explain to the Principal. They are OBLIGED to let you sit near enough to see the board.

Best answer: Please keep in mind that all the suggestions you will receive do not work for everyone or for every class.
Here a some things that worked for me.
I would be sitting at my desk with a book propped open ( as though I was reading). The students would enter the room chatting away and I would let them continue. Rather than telling the students to be quiet I would let them natter on. Sooner or later someone would ask when I was going to teach and my response was that I was ready when they were ready.
Another thing that I did was to make it very clear to the students that it was their time their were wasting, not mine.
Depending on the length of time the students nattered away I would just write the homework on the board. If the students then commented that that wasn't fair I just told them that as far as I was concerned the lesson that had been planned for that period had been taught.
I also made it very clear to the students that it was not important to me if they got the credit as I already had my S School credits. but the credits were important to them.
Another technique you can use is to speak in a whisper when the students' conversations dies down. Sometimes as I was explaining a concept and illustrating it on the blackboard I would have my back to the class.
For one particularly noisy class I told them to rearrange their seating so that those who weren't the least bit interested in learning anything were to sit on one side of the classroom, read their books, and not disturb those who wanted to learn.
In all of my years of teaching I never gave rewards for good or desirable behaviour and I never sent a student to the office.
Every student in the school knew that I was a tough teacher but was also an excellent one. I used to tell them that my broomstick was parked in the corner.
The strategies I listed worked for me and by the time of the third class the students had settled down.
While group work or class presentations is great you can't operate on that for an entire year.
The secret is to put most of the responsibility for the students' learning and their learning environment on them. Let them take ownership of it.
