• Do you think Russia will get far in the World Cup?

Best answer: I saw them play last summer in the Confederation Cup and they looked terrible. They were gifted a cup cake group, so they should at least make it past the first round.

Not even the French teams of the 1980s and late 90s/early 2000s can match them.

Germany will obviously provide a challenge in their defense of the tournament, but no side has been able to win it twice in a row since the days of Pele and Garrincha over 50yrs ago.

Brazil look good, Argentina can do damage is Messi is up to form, and Belgium are also stacked with talent. But France are beyond them all and the only thing stopping them is themselves (i.e. Euro 2016).

  • How did Australia qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup when the US, Italy, Holland, and Chile failed to do so?

Best answer: Well US is hardly a good football team in general.

Italy, Holland and Chile simply played poorly.

Regarding Italy, most blame seems to go to the coach for doing a pretty bad job, or so most people think.

  • Will the national football team of Mexico ever win the FIFA World Cup?

Best answer: I think that every nation has a chance to create a real strong football team. But it needs time and big interests from a government. Let's just look at Belgium football team. Now these guys can win EURO2016, I believe in It. But they weren't so strung 3-4 years ago. If Mexico's football government will start to involve a lot of money in children's football, will build a lot of academies across the country, then anything can happen.

But honestly speaking, I don't believe in it in the next 10-20 years.

  • If Portugal played Spain in the World Cup, who would you root for?

Best answer: Spain, every time, and I'm not even a fan of Spain. (mein Sohn, Die Mannschaft!) I am a Manchester United fan through and through (from 1983©) and appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo's contributions to a few of our titles, but if I don't see another of his grimaces or sullen face or theatrics, it is too soon. show more

Best answer: My dream final would be the battle of heavyweights: Brazil vs Argentina. Neighbor vs Neighbor. Class vs Class. Rival vs Rival. Teammate vs Teammate (Neymar vs Messi, Dani Alves vs Dybala, Thiago Silva vs Di Maria etc). A truly magnificent spectacle, a final of this magnitude would send sparks flying throughout the footballing world.

Both teams are oozing with quality players. Both the teams are fallen giants, hoping to redeem themselves after years of failure at international stage (Brazil got humiliated by Germany 1–7 in 2014 while Argentina lost the 2014 final, courtesy of a 22 year old kid, Mario Gotze).

Both the teams have a main man each that has something to prove: Neymar wants to silence his critics and reach the legend status of Pele. Messi desperately wants to win an international title with his national team, especially after losing a hat-trick of finals (2014 World Cup, 2015 and 2016 Copa America). Both are team mates at FC Barcelona, which makes it even more competitive.

The stakes will never be as high as these. Brazil vs Argentina, the final the world awaits for! (According to my personal opinion)

  • What team has the best squad for the upcoming World Cup 2018?

Best answer: France’s squad has so much raw talent
    • Lloris and Areola are among the top goalkeepers in the world.
    • France’s defense is top of the world. Varane and Umtiti are the best central defenders of Real Madrid and Barcelona while Laporte is also desired by both clubs. On the side, they have Kuzawa, the first defender to score a hat trick in the Chamption League, and Mendy, with Digne and Sagna in reserve.
    • Their midfield is equally impressive with names like Kante, Pogba, Payet, Matuidi, Rabiot, etc.
    • Their attack has Mbape and Dembele, who cost PSG and Barcelona 180M and 140M Euros respectively, flanking Griezmann while Martial, Giroud and Lacazette look on from the bench. Just let that sink in.
The issues with France is the lack of experience of the young players, and the lack of a clear leader in the team.
    Brazil’s squad is similarly stacked
    • Allison and Ederson are top class goalkeepers.
    • In Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and David Luiz, Brazil have a very strong central back selection. On the left side, they have Marcelo and Alex Sandro, arguably the two best left fullbacks in the world. The right side is not that strong and Brazilians will hope that Dani Alves has the legs for another year.
    • With Casemiro, Paulinho, Coutinho and Willian in the rank, Brazil’s midfield is strong. However, this midfield is stacked with physical players and lack a bit in creativity. It’s too bad Ganso didn’t mature as well as Neymar did.
    • Brazil’s attack, led by Neymar and Gabriel Jesus, is not the stuff of dreams like the R’s of the past (Ronaldo - Romario - Ronaldinho - Robinho) but is still among the best in the world, second only to Argentina attack if Aguero is fit.
Brazil’s squad is a bit less talented than France’s, but they make up for that by possessing the exact traits that France are lacking: they have a good blend of experienced players and young talents, and, in Neymar, have a clear leader to build a team around.
    Honorable mentions: Germany and Belgium.
Compared to the last World Cup, which they won, Germany have lost their captain Lahm without an adequate replacement (to be fair, it’s nearly impossible to replace Lahm) and didn’t introduce any new stars. Moreover, their two strong attackers Mullers and Goetze are woefully off-form.
Belgium is still stacked with talented players such as Lukaku, Hazard, Kevin de Bruyin, Najingolan, etc. but I think their inexperience at the highest level will cost them.
