• I bought a nonrefundable ticket and couldn't fly because of a panic attack that happened at the airport. Can I still get credit/money back?

I was told they would charge me $200 to change each ticket--which is about how much the tickets cost me. Which is preposterous. Other airlines charge $20-$40 to do this in many cases.

From what I've observed, people in Toronto use the airports in New York City or Chicago. People in Montreal use Logan Airport in Boston. People in Vancouver and Calgary go all the way to Seattle to use THEIR airport. I'm assuming the Canadian airports are expensive, in very poor condition, in bad locations, and perhaps Justin Trudeau bought and owns them all. Who knows?

Border control people are never going to look at your driver's licence unless, perhaps, you have lost your passport and are trying to board a flight and they are trying to find some way to identify you. But then, if you have lost your passport you shouldn't be trying to board a plane with other ID because it probably won't work if you are in a foreign country. You should, instead, be contacting US officials in that foreign country or back in the US and getting a replacement passport or emergency travel document. My Canadian passport came with a pamphlet explaining what to do if I lose my passport, with a phone number and email address which are also printed on the back pages of the passport. I'm sure the US does something similar.

However these airlines do not fly everywhere and if the flight is short in duration, then flying American, Delta and United will be okay as well. These airlines will also sometimes have fare sales. Orbitz always sends me emails when an airline has a fare sale so you may want to open up an Orbitz account.
