I'm seeking advice on what sales jobs I should apply for considering my experience and situation. I have several years experience in retail and the restaurant industry. I am extremely talented at selling musical instruments online to hobbyist and even learned to repair them, and know to learn the product and read forums and research what I'm selling, including market value. But it has grown very difficult to make a living selling musical instruments in my area so I want a real sales job. I learned a lot of sales basics selling publications door to door. I trained at AT&T for door to door sales, but I didn't stick with it as the technology was too complicated for me at the moment. I've since then done woodworking and operated cnc machines and worked at several factories in production assembly for various temp agencies. I'm 30 attended high school for 4 years but never achieved a diploma or GED. I'm wondering if I do get a GED will employers know that I only recently obtained it? Will this look bad? I am currently in the process of buying salesman books and will start studying sales techniques and such. I am hoping to get a job selling ceiling fans or lamps, furniture or maybe mattresses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • How many hours per week do sales representatives work?

Best answer: I would imagine 40 hours for full time.
Like everything else though, it would be determined by where you're employed.

Best answer: The $100,000 salesman found the right product, has the right experience, has the right skills, has found the right way to market himself, and is very lucky. Most sales people never get to this level.

Think about how often you enjoy running to pick up your phone to hear that it's a telemarketer. The jobs pay a low hourly rate in most cases and in some instances there is a fee paid for an actual sale, but those positive calls are few and far between. Telemarketers are usually people who can't find anything else. On the positive side, you can sometimes work from home, but still it's telemarketing.

On a day with bad weather (rain, snow) the early shift will not stay as late, because the odds of a walk in buyer are much lower.

When I was working a retail lot, I usually worked 60 hours or more (and the dealership was closed on Sunday, most are now open 7 days a week

  • How easy is it to get fired from a sales job?

Best answer: It depends on what you want to do to get fired. If you just turn in lousy sales figures...then it may be 6 months before they let you go....if you come into the office and scream, cuss and piss on the boss's desk...you will be let go immediately.
