  • Is it bad to be brutally honest (please read)?

Best answer: I'm kind of the same way. People don't always like my responses, but I'm known for being honest and my friends and peers respect that. It's not the "friendliest" way to be, but I'd rather be respected and someone that people can rely on rather than lie and pretend like everything is bubbles and flowers. I'm not mean about it, it's more of "well here's the hand you've been dealt, it sucks, but here's what you can do from here".

He got very upset with me and said that I'm a bad friend. He also said that I'm inconsiderate. I told him its his birthday and he lives in another state. He got frustrated and when i went into the restroom he cancelled our flights so I had to pay more money to expedite it. He's really hurt and I feel bad. Idk if i can afford his ticket. I told him i could but then I wont have enough money for myself to eat or buy things while were out. He said "that's okay at least youd be a good friend." What do i do? :(

I work in a little owner-operated cafe. I came in one day and suddenly there was a new guy there from eastern Europe--it turns out he's the brother of one of the owners. We thought he was just going to be an employee, but it turns out that one of the owners was going overseas and this guy is now the acting manager. Before the owner left, he touted this guy as having "managed restaurants across Europe"--but it quickly became apparent that this guy doesn't really know what he's doing. And he has terrible communication skills. He acts really aggressive, I think maybe because he thinks that's how a manager is supposed to act and he wants to show everyone that he's in charge. Then the other night his sister, who's the other owner, called me and suspended me for a few days, saying to come in next Tuesday to talk. Apparently this guy told her something. I'm not sure that I even want to work there any more. The plusses are: the pay is decent, we get cash tips, the hours are decent, it's close to my apt., and we get free food which significantly cuts down on my grocery bills. I doubt I could find another job with as many pluses like this one. The negatives are: 1) this new manager who doesn't know what he's doing, and 2) my immediate supervisor is a micro-managing naysayer who's CONSTANTLY on my case about every. little. thing. We have mini-clashes a lot. He's just very negative and according to him I don't do anything right.

Then this other guy Tj comes up from behind me and uppercuts me in the nuts so hard i fell down and almost cried. Needless to say i go tell my supervisor. And me and him go to the security room and watch the replay. It was brutal, but my boss and the security guy just both break out laughing. And tell me "boys will be boys". Im defenetly wearing a cup when i go in on monday. But what else can i do to protect my jewels. I need this job i just got kicked out of my parents house for calling them f*ggots.

  • I hate being touched by people. What is a polite way to say 'please dont touch me'. Without them taking offence.?

Too much "information" perhaps, but sometimes details can get a point across when direct objections can't.
