So I went to the office and was handed over an email I replied to last Friday. It turns out that the email was already past 4 hours. I got mad thinking that my officemate intentionally didn't answer it and just waited for me. I sent a message to the whole group about how upset I am. When my officemate found out about the message and how upset I was, he got mad too. We explained our sides but it felt like it's not resolved. Should I apologize?

Him and his brother both had cancer and they are both in their early and mid-60's. His brother still has cancer and is not continuing treatment for it. I made a statement about 61 years old being too young to pass away. My ex-husband said that's not true, most people pass away at the age of 65 years old. I couldn't believe he said this as I explained that most people in my family lived to be past 80 years old. He says that the retirement age is set at 65, because many people pass away at that age. That seems outrageous to me. Do most people really die that young overall?

The ideal solution would be to allow men to wear shorts to work, yet shorts are not allowed for either gender. That being the case, why are there no other options for men except for long pants? Why do women have so many options when it comes to summer attire? Does it have anything to do with men having hairy legs, do mens legs look that bad - if so that is gender discriminatory. Its not just to work either, even formal events like galas, weddings, I see women wearing knee-high skirts with their legs open while men are stuck in long pants. Is this not fair gender wise, we all have the same physical bodies that feel hot and cold, etc.

Best answer: Next time you want to do something together, make it something that doesn't depend on promptness.

Then arrange to be even later than she usually is. Give some lame excuse – heavy traffic, one of "those" phone you couldn't hang up on, the need to go back for some forgotten item, etc. Or say nothing except, "Sorry I'm late." Keep doing this every time until she complains. Then you could say, "I didn't think it would matter to you – you generally arrive well past the appointed time yourself."

Tough love, it would be, and you could very well lose her friendship. But it might be worth it. She gets to classes, meals, and dental appointments on time, why not meetings with a friend?

  • Is it rude to not tip a barber extra for cutting hair after they closed, when their hours aren’t listed on the front door or business cards?

I appreciate the fact that my barber didn’t kick me out when I entered, but instead let me sit down, and didn’t inform me of their closing time until it was my turn. FYI - he’s the owner, which I assume it’s not customary to tip, anyway, as opposed to his employees. But I tip him every time, but didn’t tip him extra for cutting me after hours.

  • What is an okay amount to give a 13 year old for a bar mitzvah?

I recently went to a friends brothers bar mitzvah held at a restaurant with a dj. The gift I gave was $25, but searching more on bar mitzvahs, the amount most people give is $50. Was $25 too little to give for a bar mitzvah for someone you don’t know well?

I went to the bank today. The girl at the reception said that she knows me from high school. I said I don't remember her. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen her face before. Very beautiful though. I think she confused me with somebody else.
