I'm 17 and I am getting my permit next week. I have looked nearby me and found several cars that fit within my price range but I am unsure which one I should get. They are all $1000 and under. Some of them have cosmetic issues but they don't have anything mechanically wrong listed about them. I don't need anything fancy, just something to learn in and get used to driving with. The choices are: 2000 Hyundai Elantra with 168k miles, 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis with 170k miles, 2004 Dodge Neon with 198k miles, 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 200k miles, 2001 Nissan Maxima with 184k miles, 2003 Hyundai Sonata with 180k miles, and a 2002 Ford Explorer with 200k miles. Are any of these good deals or should I keep looking? Any suggestions for a teen first car? Thanks for your help!

I have a used car that I bought from a private seller. My friends and parents recommended some local mechanic shops but I'm not sure if I like them and want to use them regularly. I get that dealerships might be more expensive than independent places, however, I would rather have someone who works on my type of vehicle 24/7 than some who sees them less often. The only things i would need done regularly are oil changes, state inspections, tires, etc. Will a dealership do those for me even if the car was not from them but from a private seller?

I've not long passed my driving test and at the moment I'm driving around in the typical 'first car' that has seen better days but is not quite on the scrap heap yet. Except for a very minor oil leak, it runs perfectly fine and everything works as it should. However, there is a problem with the bonnet that means it has to be held down with a cable tie - which has to be cut and a new one attached whenever the bonnet needs to be lifted. When I asked my relative (who previously owned the car) how I can tell, whilst I'm driving and aside from the display lights, when the car is running medium-low on oil and/or water, he couldn't explain because apparently, you 'just know' - but this is something I PERSONALLY have yet to experience, so... Me - in my logical mind - I intended to go by the display, but apparently you can't always rely on the display to be accurate, particularly with older cars. Thanks in advance for any/all help and information.

  • My Toyota Camry has 180,000 miles on it and is in relatively good condition. But is it still likely to go at 200,000?

Mind you, I have never been late for an oil change, and replaced the sensors whenever the check engine light went on. However, they say a car usually dies at 200,000. Is my car on its last legs? I repeat, there have been no serious problems.

I learned to drive at 16 as part of the drivers' education program in public schools. I drove for a couple of years, but always found public transit and walking the best way to get around in a city. I still do. I live in a small inner city (65K population). I'm 80 now and I frankly don't think anyone my age should drive. I probably still could, but I'm not gambling with other peoples' safety. Day or night, I walk or call a cab.

I just got into a minor accident. I was slowing down because the car that was in front of me was slowing down because there was potholes and while I was slowing down, and the car behind me hit my vehicle and dented my rear bumper. Luckily no one was injured. And I called the police to report the incident. Police came and gave us the police report number. Then I called my insurance company and filed a claim. Then we went our ways, After that day I got a call from the guy's insurance company and they said they will take care of it and will fix the bumper. I said ok cool. Insurance company gave me an address which is a automotive collision repair shop. Also they will provide rental car at their expense. After getting the call I called my insurance and told them all about it. They said okay and since its his fault they are supposed to take care of the damage. Also told me to let them know if there is any problem. So my concern is : I bought my NISSAN ROGUE SV 2015 (USED) (30K miles) on MAY 2017. Still has Nissan manufacturer's warranty. So do I have to fix the bumper from certified Nissan repair shop or I can get the repair done from any shop? is it going to void my Nissan warranty? Thank you for taking the time to read it.

Best answer: Your Honda Accord Sport is neither a premium recommended or premium required automobile. The use of of a higher octane gasoline, higher than 87 octane, would not give you better performance or fuel economy. It would simply be a waste of cash.
