  • Do you feel school motivational speakers are pointless?

I grew up in both the ghetto and the suburbs. The ghetto was mostly blacks and latinos. The suburbs was mostly whites, upperclass homes and community. And when motivational speakers come, I never see it have a long lasting affect on the kids. In the ghetto schools the kids went back to gang banging, fighting, all that ghetto bullshit. In the suburbs the kids went back to doing drugs, drinking, bullying, treating eachother like crap, etc. I've never seen a motivation speaker leave an impact, or if they do it will only be some kids and the impact will only last a day or so and they go back to normal. ALL people I know have this same experience. Makes me feel kids are way too far gone for motivation speakers to talk sense into them and they won't get it until they are older but by then it's already too late because they already spent a giant portion of their youth treating others like crap. IDK maybe you have a different perspective. What do you think?

All this started cuz 2 of my friends were depressed and I let the school know cuz I was worried about them. Now all my friends aren't letting me hang out with them, they're mean to me and they're siding with the kids I tried to help. One of my friends said that since they will be prefects (hall monitors) when we go back to school, they can tell me to go away without it being mean. One girl said she has a phobia of me. One time I saw 2 of my friends walking down the street, I waved at them and they yelled NO my face. I told the school that they were bullying me, but now 2 of my friends threatened to block me cuz I called them bullies. I told them my side of the story, but they told me that I'm just making them sound like the bad guy when I actually am, and I apologised but they thought it was fake. It was real. I still hang out with them anyway, since I don't have any other friends. They don't care, though. They think I'm just using them to not look like a loner. They're actually the kids who I'm the most in common with since we all like to draw; everyone else in my grade either can't stop gushing about boys and makeup, or they can't stop gushing about plot holes in my little pony. Yes my friends are shy and I'm loud, yes my friends are depressed and I'm happy, yes my friends are quiet and I'm fun loving, yes my friends walk away from bullies and I defend myself, but I can still hang out with them. But I'm unwanted. What do I do?

Luckily some of the places I m applying for can be done online but the others have to be printed filled out and turned in. I have major anxiety about filling out serious stuff like this because of my handwriting, but a friend suggesting just download the pdfs, edit it fill it out and than print it (signing it after I print it of course) is this a good idea? Or will it hurt my approval chances?

You may not be able to go back to your original High School, but Junior College and GED courses will augment what you already know---by the time you are 30 you can have a degree. Most doctors don't get to hang up a shingle until then, so no worries. Best wishes.

Best answer: Pay attention to your daydreams. The things you fantasize being able to do, or wish you knew how to do, will give you a clue. For example, suppose you daydream that you're a hero who rescues someone from a fire or other disaster. You enjoy the good feeling that you helped save someone and that the community admires you. This would show you that maybe you want to do something like be a paramedic or an ambulance driver--or any work at any level of training that would enable you to help people in trouble.
Or maybe you daydream about winning a marathon or accomplishing a feat in sports. You might want to form the goal of increasing your level of fitness, for health, discipline, and to feel good about yourself.
A career is not the only type of goal we may have in life. Some people feel that the most important thing in life is family. Whether you had a good family experience growing up or not, you might form the goal of having a happy family. So then you know your learning needs to be in the area of relationships as well as child development and care.
Another goal could be to travel. Even if you cannot travel yet because of your age or finances, you can learn about the places you want to visit, maybe learn a foreign language, and start saving or making plans for a trip.
Anything you are drawn to, either through your emotions or your intellectual curiosity, can be a clue to the kind of goal you want. But it has to be what you want, not what you think others expect of you.
