• How could a British person tell me if I’m an American?

Best answer: Clothing maybe, hair style maybe. There's a distinctive "British look" and a distinctive "American look" but a great many people fall between.

Best answer: Your plan can work as we sometimes have a shortage of nurses over here, and a US Degree in nursing would be accepted. You may face an aptitude test before being offered employment though.

But when nurses are not in short supply your skills will not be required. That could prevent you emigrating here. or if you are employed on a working Visa then when your Visa expires you may be required to return home.

You have a greater chance if you do a bit of research into the UKs NHS when you are ready to start your nursing studies to see which areas of nursing are in demand. Specialisms are almost always a safe bet, especially if they're in less popular fields such as mental health, psychogeriatrics, or stoma care. Higher skilled nurses can also usually find and retain their jobs, such as intensive care. Higher skilled paramedics are also a pretty safe bet as they're always in demand and cost a lot to train, so if you arrive ready-skilled, ready trained, and experienced then it shouldn't be any problem.

As for where you live, you can expect to have to flatshare/house-share or to rent somewhere in a cheaper area such as in the outer London boroughs. Some boroughs and housing associations do offer subsidised "key worker" housing for people like police, fire service, healthcare providers, teachers, social workers and similar.

And as with any emigration, the more money you can save before you arrive, the better.

  • One week in London?

My husband and I are planning a trip to London this fall. We have one week (technically 5 actual days, 2 are travel days) there and I was wondering if we should take time to go to Paris as well. I want to make the most of our time there, but I don't want us to be so rushed that we don't actually enjoy it.

Ahh....lovely Wales! And by the way, those druid/Celtic weddings are more Scottish, Irish, and rural Engerlish!

The hotel and the plane tickets are already paid for, so all we re gonna spend the money on is food, public transport, entry fees and occasionally souvenirs and stuff. So, what is the perfect amount you would recommend? We ll stay there a week and we are not huge spenders. Thank you so much for your answers, my dad was usually the one who handled the money, but as this is the first vacation without him, we re quite helpless and will appreciate any help.

Even in the 80;'s, when I first moved to England, although I was slim myself, so many of the women were absolutely stick-thin. Like the Americans we could all do with a dietary change but certainly NOT to make us 'hot' but for health. The same goes for men, who are still the ones more likely to have heart attacks, and from a female perspective, yes, many of them are not so nice looking as they were 30 years ago--with big beer bellies, moobs and fat, feminine bottoms, compounded by having unattractive 'functional' haircuts like shaved heads (older men) or big obscuring beards (younger men.)

so we need a university town, & with high (pref. historical as genes will have mixed more) immigration.
    discounting London....
interesting someone said nottingham, as due to historical manufacturing industries prob. has significant early & assimilated immigration & two or three universities.
places like bath & oxford skew very high i young and rich, not so much with the genetic diversity.
so if you like english girls, go to bath, something more exotic to nottingham.
