  • Can International Medical Graduates get paid while doing a medical residency (postgraduate training) in the US or Canada?

Ideally I'd like to do a medical residency programme in the US but I'd need the training to pay for my living costs. Is being paid only an option for those who graduated from a US/Canadian med school or is it possible for IMGs too? State your source for 5 stars. Thanks in advance.

Internationally recognised? That seems unlikely but you could ask. Presume you know that you will not get a work permit for this. Usually these things are best learned in your own country so that you can be licenced.

Best answer: As PC says, no country other than Greece cares in the slightest whether you have done your military service there. The only way they might care is if the Greek government gets a court order (unlikely, but possible I suppose) to have you arrested and extradited to Greece, because that order will be automatically enforceable throughout the EU/EEA.

You wil not, however, be getting the citizenship of either of those countries for a very long time. Firstly, you need to live there for several years (and that does not include the time spent there studying), before you're even eligible to apply for naturalisation, and that process can then take a long time as well. And given how the UK plans to leave the EU at some stage, probably during the few years we're talking about here, I wouldn't place any bets on you getting a British citizenship at least (you might have better luck with the Dutch one... assuming, of course, that both Greece and the Netherlands remain in the EU long enough!).

Best answer: 1. Student visas are temporary NON-immigration visas issued on the condition that foreign students return to country of citizenship immediately upon completion or termination of full-time studies. Intent to remain is visa FRAUD, grounds for visa denial, or revocation with deportation/mandatory departure, and permanent bar to entry! You are NOT remaining in US. Prove you are returning home & that there are job opportunities for you in your country when you return.

    2. Work in aeronautics, aerospace, etc, generally requires security clearances for which you must have US CITIZENSHIP! You have NO job opportunities in the US.

    3. Bachelor's degree is NOT a qualification for H1-b visa. You need master's degree PLUS experience. And any possible opportunities would be for jobs (IF any!) which do not require US citizenship, and do not require any security clearance.

    4. You have NOTHING to offer which plenty of US citizens cannot offer, plus every one of the US grads has plenty to offer which you can never offer! Aerospace industry is cyclical, and massive layoffs are common periodically. No job security, even for citizens with experience & security clearances.
