• Would a trained martial artist defeat someone trained to kill ?

Is there a difference between someone trained to kill with the intent of killing someone vs a martial arts expert. Please tell me how this type of confrontation would go down ?

Best answer: Perhaps you are rushing your training somewhat. There is a certain amount of conditioning that is needed for taking shots to the stomach and kicks to the legs. Things like crunches and situps for your abdominal area for instance. Also the toughening process for your legs and shins take time and need to be gradually implemented and practiced and probably the amount and type of contact you are getting is beyond what your body can currently handle. A lot of schools and gyms use the sink or swim approach to training. If you are tough enough to take it then fine; if not then you quit but they have your money already so not every gym or school is a good one for beginners starting out. A good one will instead not apply that approach so much and instead build you into shape, increasing your ability in these areas some before putting you in hard contact sparring. Telling someone else to go hard if you are a beginner is not the smartest thing either really. Perhaps you need to instead tell them to go easy for a while until you have built up your conditioning in these areas.

  • Why do idiots keep saying that the best martial art is to run?

Do they not consider that the attacker might be faster than the victim? Now the attacker has caught you from the back, you've put yourself in a much worse situation because you tried to run away. I would rather take my chances defending myself in a fight. If the person is better at fighting then I am, then there is a good chance he is also more athletic and thus probably faster. I am better off not being attacked with my back turned to the attacker, that is a dumb tactic. People who say this are morons.

I've only done this 3-4 times because I don't know of.it's safe. I'm not choking him, I'm just pushing his head back, shutting off the bloodflow to prevent movement

  • How would Bruce Lee actually do against me in a fight?

Best answer: Bruce Lee is vastly over-rated. He couldn't beat men in his weight class, so he wouldn't even compete. He has no chance against a skilled superheavyweight like you. You're bigger, stronger, quicker, tougher, etc. by a huge margin. He'd surely run if he had to face you.

Best answer: Actually the clothing are not uniforms per se, but most people in the West think of it that way. The clothing is the typical everyday wear that are worn by many Chinese (and other Asians - the style caught on in other countries) from about 1644 to near WW2.

You don't see it worn much these days because many Asians have adopted western style clothing. However, Asian culture tend to be very traditionally minded so some kept to the style of clothing for special events. Even in most kung fu and tai chi classes, they are not usually worn except for special events such as competitions or exhibitions.

In Ip Man's time, you would see many people on the streets in China wearing this and not just for martial art. In English, it is referred to simply as "Chinese suit" and "Tangzhuang" in Chinese. Sometimes, Tangzhuang and Hanfu are used interchangeably because "Tang" is often confused to mean the Tang Dynasty although the fashion has nothing to do with that period of Chinese history. Hanfu, refers to the more traditional clothing worn during the Tang Dynasty although they use the word "Han". Confused yet?

Asians have a preference for multi-purpose or multi-use items. When Tangzhuang are worn for martial arts, the ends of the legs are usually tied, and the sleeves are rolled back and sometime tied or held back with a button on the upper sleeve. However, during the warmer/hot season, the outer jacket is not worn and only the shirt.
