Who killed the red Baron?

Who did it?

Update:

Thanks for answering. The reason i asked this question is because i am from my home town of Carleton Place, Ontario. This is also the home town of Roy Brown. Can this beloved town take the honour of knowing that one of its citizens killed the Red Baron?

The Red Baron met his death on 21 April 1918, from a single 0.303 bullet, while flying over Morlancourt Ridge, near the Somme River

Many experts believe that the shot probably came from Sergeant Cedric Popkin of the Australian 24th Machine Gun Company.

On April 21, 1918 Richthofen followed the Sopwith Camel of Wilfred May far into British territory. The end of the war was only months off by this time, and the Germain air command faced both ever-improving British airplanes and their own dwindling numbers. The thrill of the hunt was all but gone for Baron von Richthofen, as most of his peers had already been killed and his own wounds agonized him. Though the German air doctrine he himself wrote stated that "one should never obstinately stay with an opponent which, through bad shooting or skillful turning, he has been unable to shoot down while the battle lasts until it is far on the other side", he chased his British quarry far deeper into enemy territory and far lower to the ground than his own doctrine permitted. May later said that it was only his erratic, untrained piloting which saved him. Richthofen followed the erratic path of the novice pilot until a single bullet, shot from behind him, passed diagonally through his chest. The shot is commonly believed to have come from Australian gunners on the ground, but might have also come from the guns of Canadian flier Arthur "Roy" Brown who was coming to May's aid. Manfred von Richthofen crashed into a field alongside the road from Corbie to Bray. His body was recovered by British forces, and he was buried with full military honors.

Today, there is still a lot of controversy as too who actually killed the red baron. Many people agree that an Australian soldier on the ground fired the bullet that killed the Red Baron.

The Baron was chasing down Canadian pilot Wilfred "***" May when he was spotted by another Canadian named Arthur "Roy" Brown. Brown delivered the deadly bullet to the Baron.

Huzzah, Canadians killed the Red Baron!!!

I've read different stories about this, suggesting both a Canadian pilot and an Australian ground solider. I had a quick look on the net for you and found some help in Wiki, which suggests the ground soldier is the one.

However there's always lots of speculation about such things and especially so since it was so long ago.

I'd go with the other chap and say it was Snoopy.

Is this for an essay, if so then put forward your case and back it up with some reliable references.

    All the best.

I believe it was the Blue Baron that killed the Red Baron. Or maybe it was the Green Baron... but it might have been the Mauve Baron or Olive Green Baron. But, the Brown Baron has laid claim to it too. Oh hell, I can't remember!

All the American History books give is that he was shot down by a single bullet from a Canadian.
