What makes any one think that Russia is our friend? Putin is like Hugo Chavez in his opposition to anything that is American, except he's not as obnoxiously vocal as Chavez. Putin would rather do his work clandestinely, after all he is former KGB.

Russia is the reason Ahmadinejad is so vocal with his anti-American nonsense, he's being propped up by Putin to agitate Israel. This could all backfire on Putin, when someone decides to take Iran to task! That's when Putin will be forced to show his hand, and that's when the US will have some serious decisions to consider.

You can bet one thing for sure, that the Pentagon has run this scenario up the flagpole to see which way the wind is blowing.

Won't happen. There's more to the formula than you allow for.

Arab League + Russian Federation vs NATO + OAS + A few other allies of means = US wins.

The UN created Israel, where the LoN set the groundwork for it with the Balfour Treaty. Isreal may have done really bad stuff, but if Russia threw in with the Arab League in a war to erase Israel, NATO, and all of its allies would throw in with Israel. Also with Israel having 8 ICBM submarines, Moscow becomes a viable target for nuclear assault. The Israelis see them selves as fighting a last stand scenario, and will pull out all of the stops, to be sure. A weakened Russia would fall before NATO, in the West, then the swing south would be as a guillotine as Spain crosses the Straights of Gibraltar to reclaim the Pillars of Heracles, the Germans move through the Balkans with their allies there, as well as the new American allies in the Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria, and we can't forget Turkey, since they are a NATO nation...

Ya see where I'm going? They won't do it. It's not a viable plan. It's a recipe for Global War.
