Canada is the third largest country in the world. We have a great deal of water and are bordered on 3 sides by oceans. We share the largest unprotected border in the world with the USA. We are a soverign nation and have a parliamentary system. There is a senate and parliament. We have a plural party parliamentary system. We have no president. We currently have the Honorable Stephen Harper as Prime Minister. He has a minority government and must share his reign with opposition party members in order to maintain power. Elections are called at the discretion of the government but must be called every 8 years minimum. Most are called sooner. Votes of non-confidence can also bring down the government and cause elections. The judiciary is appointed not elected as is the senate. We are a parliamentary democracy and not a republic. Historically the French and English laid claim to Canada but our country is truly a counrty with ancestors going back tens of thousands of years as the First Nations of the country were her Aboriginal peoples. There are over a thousand different Native groups recognised by the Canadian governement. The current population of Canada is about 32 million. The climate is mixed from temperate to arid to sub and then to artic zones. I hope this all helps.

Canada is the third largest country in the world??!? When did this happen? Did China (the 3rd largest) or the USA (the 4th largest) add any countries to their territory? Or did Canada (the 2nd largest country in the world) lose something? Did Quebec finally leave?

Why not take a bus trip and see for yourself. I'd rather be there than the stinking heat of Oz at the moment.
