Can some1 please correct my essay and help me fix it up? (religion changes from the 50's)?

RELIGION IN THE 1950's

The 1950’s was a time of renewal for the United States after World War II. The world was recovering from a terrible conflict that touched the lives of everyone. It was a time where stars such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe dominated the film industry. It was also a time when organized religion took a turn down that has continued to this day.

The conservative idea in religion was very strict in the early 50’s. The use of the Bible and the popularity of churches back then showed that religion was still popular. The Bible was the top seller in those days because people would refer to it that way. Religion had more of an influence in people’s everyday lives in the early 50’s. The family Bible was important and was used more than in the present to record special events in the family, such as births, deaths, and marriages. The Bible was the biggest book in the house. World War II also made people recognize the importance of the Bible and faith in general.

Update:

Religion was very strict in the early 50’s due to need of the Bible during World War II. It was used as a cure and hope for the families whose loved ones were involved in the war. Soldiers serving in World War II requested Bibles. Religion was most likely important to those loved ones at home. These loved ones and soldiers were the mothers and fathers of families in the 1950’s. With the environment happening in the early 50’s, families took precious time to teach their children religion. Children knew of the Bible’s importance; and knew to treat its cover and pages with respect. Parents had time to sit with their children and teach religion. Due to the war, important records were written and kept in the church and family encouragement kept interest in religion. The conservative idea was so high in the United States.

Update 2:

After World War II a new economical era began with things such as televisions and cars becoming affordable for the lower class. This was the beginning of a turn away from religion. With new technologies affordable for all classes, Americans no longer had time for religion. In the early 50’s parents had time to sit with their children and talk about religion as a family and attend church. As years past, Americans were becoming more and more busy with things like TV’s and cars were now not only available not only for the high class houses, but every house.

Update 3:

The introduction of affordable technology caused a busy society. Parents were no longer the teachers but rather the media. When families are busy, children tend to learn from the media. Affordable technology introduced new stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. The ability of having a TV at home stole away the time for family and religious gatherings. Parents were no longer the teachers but rather the media was. Media started to influence families.

The 1950’s was a time of renewal for the United States after World War II. The world was recovering from a terrible conflict that touched the lives of everyone. It was a time WHEN stars such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe dominated the film industry. It was also a time when organized religion took a turn down (REWORD THIS PART. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE). that has continued to this day.

RELIGION WAS VERY STRICT AND CONSERVATIVE in the early 50’s. The use of the Bible and the popularity of churches AT THAT TIME showed that religion was still popular. The Bible was the top seller DURING THAT ERA because people would refer to it that way. (WHAT WAY?) Religion had more of an influence in people’s everyday lives in the early 50’s. (HAD MORE OF AN INFLUENCE HAS COMPARED TO WHAT?) The family Bible was important and was used more than in the present to record special events in the family, such as births, deaths, and marriages. The Bible was the biggest book in the house. World War II also made people recognize the importance of the Bible and faith in general.

THE VERY FIRST SENTENCE OF YOUR ESSAY SHOULD TELL US WHAT THE ESSAY IS ABOUT. IT SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE "RELIGION IN AMERICA HAS CHANGED SINCE THE 1950'S."

Religion was very strict in the early 50’s due to need of the Bible during World War II. It was used as a cure and hope for the families whose loved ones were involved in the war. Soldiers serving in World War II requested Bibles. Religion was most likely important to those loved ones at home. (THIS SENTENCE DOES NOT MAKE SENSE). These loved ones and soldiers were the mothers and fathers of families in the 1950’s. With the environment (WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "WITH THE ENVIRONMENT HAPPENING?" IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE). happening in the early 50’s, families took precious time to teach their children religion. Children knew of the Bible’s importance; and THEY knew to treat its cover and pages with respect. Parents had (TOOK?) time to sit with their children and teach THEM religion. Due to the war, important records were written and kept in the church. FAMILY encouragement kept interest in religion. CONSERVATIVE BELIEFS WERE HELD VERY STRONGLY IN THE UNITED STATES.

The introduction of affordable technology caused a busy society. Parents were no longer the teachers but rather the media. When families are busy, children tend to learn from the media. Affordable technology introduced new stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. The AVAILABILITY OF TELEVISION at home stole away the time for family and religious gatherings. Parents were no longer the teachers but rather the media was. Media started to influence families.

YOU NEED TO END THE ESSAY WITH A CONCLUSION PARAGRAPH. BE SURE TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION IN THE FIRST AND LAST PARAGRAPH OF YOUR ESSAY: IS THE DECLINE IN RELGION IN THE U.S.A. FAVORABLE OR UNFAVORABLE?
