The con of space exploration is its cost. There are several pros, including spinoffs and adventure and giving birth to a future which is larger than the present. But the biggest pro is this:

Space colonies are insurance against global civilization-destroying calamities on Earth, such as nuclear wars, major asteroid hits, global famines, and the depletion of terrestrial energy resources. Space colonies can preserve the knowledge and wisdom, the science and the art, the music, the stories, and the poetry created by all the ages of humans past, when otherwise they would be eternally gone.

But it may be too late, now, to create colonies on Mars, or on the moon, or inside asteroids. I think we've had our chance and missed it. We toyed with our generous window of time, and nature has slapped us down for good.

"It has often been said that, if the human species fails to make a go of it here on Earth, some other species will take over the running, [but] this is not correct. We have, or soon will have, exhausted the necessary physical prerequisites so far as this planet is concerned. With coal gone, oil gone, high-grade metallic ores gone, no species however competent can make the long climb from primitive conditions to high-level technology. This is a one-shot affair. If we fail, this planetary system fails so far as intelligence is concerned. The same will be true of other planetary systems. On each of them there will be one chance, and one chance only." (Sir Fred Hoyle, 1964.)

There are no cons worth considering. There may be slight obstacles, but space exploration is the Manifest Destiny of Humanity

Pro: We probably come from a line of pioneers and will continue to be pioneers.

: Some just love to solve a good mystery.

Con: Remember what has happened to societies, someone always thinks they know what is right for everyone. As long as we don't go into space and meet other civilizations, only to call them heathens.

pros: sending out probes and robots provides extremely useful data for theoretical analysis, provides answers to existing questions and helps find new questions to ask.

cons: missions can be aborted due to probe failure caused by unforeseen dangers such as solar flares or micro-meteors, resulting in massive loss of capital. the information returned by the probe may not help to resolve current hypotheses.
