I'm out of tea bags, can I just swirl a sockful of dirt in some hot water and swill that?

Perhaps a pinch of nutmeg would be in order...

That would work for a bit. However it might lead to Pica, the penchant for eating dirt and clay. And filling up on mud will eventually lead to anemia due to a lack of iron.

I suggest instead that you heat the kettle and open a small vein and drain 3 or 4 teaspoons of blood into your cup. It's a tasty beverage with nutritious benefits.

I'd drink a cup of that.

Nutmeg, lemon and honey. Just make sure the sock is clean. Otherwise you'll miss out on the full-bodied flavor of the dirt.
