what is PFC (power factor correction) in computer power supplies?

getting a power supply that has this

    It is a good idea to have equipment operate at a high power factor. This saves in the amount of current that flows for the same power and can save in energy losses. However, the amount of difference is small in a computer power supply and, contrary to information in a link above, power companies do not charge domestic customers for bad power factors

    It's essentially a power saving technology. Most modern power supplies now have it, and it's required in Europe. See here:
