my a/c quits working when the car is sitting sand idling?

I have a 94 cadillac STS I have spent considerable money fixing the A/C , compressor, fan works good when driving but quits when stopped in traffic or sitting at idle . have had it checked by Gm dealer and Canadian tire garage and they report nothing wrong , any suggestions?

When you say they checked it do you mean the AC worked ok for then when on idle?

Possible causes might be battery/alternator not holding/making enough charge while on low revs, Does the AC kick in as soon as you 'blip' the throttle or do you need to hold it down to 1500 revs or more for it to work?

Other possibilities are that maybe theres an anti stall on it cuts the AC to stay running, try turning up the 'tick over' a fraction so it runs at 700-800 rpm when idle

what do you mean stop working? does the aircon goes off, or is there air blowing but not cold?

if there is still air blowing, best check the freon or air coolant level. sometimes, it is just the problem.

i think this is the problem, since you said that the fan, compressor, etc. is working fine.

Also, suggest going to an aircon specialist rather than a GM dealer.

    good luck.

There ought to be some mechanism which keeps the engine RPM slightly higher when the car is idling with the a/c on. Is it working?
