No. In fact, religion was in the past very useful to science, as it gave people a reason to try and discover the nature of the universe. Many scientists were also devout believers. Aside from the events around the Copernican revolution, it's only in the last 200 years that religion has held science back, as this is when science began to contradict religion.

in the starting up, Sam, you're a buffoon. Do you even understand what a theory is? A theory is a collaboration of observable advice it really is baked by mathematics. the only difficulty a theory lacks is a good rationalization. no human being claims theories are the 'properly' answer. they are an attempt to describe particular questions we've. On wards for your question Derek; definite, faith has held guy type decrease back. yet, you should do not forget that that is guy's fault for permitting it. Physicists and astronomers were imprisoned or killed as a results of diverse perspectives on how the universe operates; they challenged the bible, and God. 80 5% of scientists are non-believers. 15% are religious.

If humanity had devoted the time and money spent on the Church to scientific endeavors instead, Charles Babbage would have probably built the first computer about 120 years early.

We might not have colonized the stars (there's still the whole problem of physics not allowing FTL travel), but I expect we'd probably have colonized the moon and maybe a couple of the planets by now...

Highly likely that we would have at least have established a base on Mars. Religion has always tried to hinder the progress of science.
