yes, and they are technically not a dictatorship. They do have an election process, but only those affiliated with an approved communist affiliated party can run.

Yes Vietnam still govern solely by Communist party, but like China she has open up her economy to the world, things are much better now, people are quite free(except criticize the govrenment). There are 4 communist countries left in the world: China and Vietnam are market economies, however Cuba and North Korea still maintain their old soviet systems.

Vietnam is still a communist country. It has Asia’s second fastest growing economy, trailing only China. Vietnam has encouraged a great deal of foreign investment. The economic situation in the US, however, may adversely affect Vietnam’s economic growth in the coming year.

yes and no. they have a mixed economy, similar to china. gov't still has A LOT of say, however foreign companies, especially from the US, employ a lot of workers and privatization is slowly occuring. they've clearly seen that their communist paradise idea was a huge failure and you certainly see globalization in vietnam in a huge way. there is no evidence that democracy is coming to vietnam anytime soon though.

  • Yes it is, and it is the only legal party there as well...but it is run on centralist-democratic platforms...I believe it has been this way since the mid 70's, although it was originally founded by HCM in @1931-4

" Advisers " were sent in in 1952. Probably scoping out the place for the war machine. Nixon called for an end in 1973. Saigon finally fell in 1975.

there are four communist countries left in the world. Vietnam, China, North Korea, and Cuba. Among them, Vietnam is powerless, because you never heard anything happen there. unlike North Korea with its nuclear weapons, Vietnamese communists don't have anything to show the world.
