Apparently my 94 GMC Sierra 1500 can take Dexron II, IIE, or III ATF- which one should I choose and why?

Dexron II was the first to come out for GM automatic transmissions, the Dex III is an upgrade version of the Dex II. ATF Is generally used for chrysler trannies and for performance applications. The only time that you use something different from the Dexron fluids is when your transmission has been rebuilt with upgraded bands and clutch packs.

I'd chose whatever it says on the dip stick. Why, you ask, because that's what the factory recommends.
