In concerns to Israel?

If the citizens of Israel really were Jews, why are they living in Israel? When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, he discovered the Israelites worshiping a golden cow. The punishment to the Israelites, given by Moses, was to be spread throughout the civilizations of the world; to be hosts of that county.

The establishment of Israel or "Zion" is a total contradiction to the Jewish faith and should not be in existence today.

Punishment for the golden calf has nothing to do with dispersion among the nations. The punishment was received on the spot. The main issue many Jews have is that there is a secular government in control. Those Jews who are termed as "anti-zionist" are those who believe a religious government should be in power, and they feel that this probably won't be possible until the coming of Mashiach.

Regarding Paulfrmxtoco's post above me, the earth did not swallow those who sinned with the Golden Calf. The Earth swallowing up a group of people has to do with Korach and those who followed him. It's this weeks portion.

    Dear nicholas,get your facts straight!

The reason for the jewish banishment from the state of israelat that time was "sina't khinam" (believed by religious jews) the meaning of this is that god was angry at the jewish people for arguing among themselves over trifles( done by the romans).

The golden calf story was resolved at that same time.

The establishment of the state of israel became a necessity after the horrors the Jewish people suffered throughout history.

Even if we take what you say as a valid argument (god didn't give permission to return to the land of israel therefor the Jewish people shouldn't have returned),which by the way certainly is not,the conclusion you arrive to is ridiculous!

Are you suggesting that all who disobey god are in fact denouncing their religion...???

    You must be joking!

If that was the case i would certainly be all the happier since there obviously won't be any religion on this earth.

No one is innocent of disobeying gods rules!

we are all "sinners",are we not?

    get real buddy!

Please quote for us from the Bible where it says that Moses punished the Israelites by "spreading throughout the civilizations of the world; to be hosts of that county" after the sin of the Golden Calf.

You won't be able to since it doesn't exist.

It was prophesied that Israel would be invincible (Zechariah 12:6-9).

Since 1948, tiny Israel has been attacked in three major wars and six lesser wars, yet despite being vastly outnumbered, they have defeated all attacking foes. Even during the final battle, when it looks like Israel will be destroyed, the Lord shall deliver her. (Jeremiah 30:3-7; Zechariah 14; Mark 13:14-20).

An invincible Israel makes no sense – unless you believe God’s Word.

The land known as Israel was promised by God to the Jews as an inheritance. They have been scattered several times and two different Temples have been destroyed. That does not mean God doesn't want them in Israel.

The punishment for those worshiping the golden calf was death, the earth swallowed them up.
