Is it true that 1-800-dentist is a scam?

They are brainwashing people to distrust ant dentist that is not referred by them or is part of a group. There is such a thing as "conspiracy of silence" and they are effectively isolating any dentist who doesn't follow the code of silence.

There is a dentist on every corner, why do any one need this sham organization to decide who is a good dentist?

If a dentist is bad, why does he still have a license to operate?

That's like saying the phone book is scamming people by not including dentists who don't pay to get listed. As others have noted, it is just another method of advertising. Some people may feel that finding the right dentist in their area is a daunting task given the myriad of choices. So they see the 1-800 commercial and it seems easier and more convenient. I do understand your point, though; I think they try to give this impression that they are this free service that hand-picks each dentist specially for the callers, and that they check and make sure that only the best dentists are allowed into their circle.

The only people getting scammed are the dentists who sign up for their program. I pay $70 for each lead they link us up with a phone call. Once we get the patient on the phone , they charge us $70 whether or not the patient ever keeps their appointment or not. We had to pay $1140 to 800 DENTIST and only 2 patients ever warmed my chairs. Of that, we only did $1500 of dentistry ,of which, was totally consumed by lab bills and staff pay, so I lost money in this deal. Needless to say, we canned their service as all I was doing was giving them $70 to make a phone call, and who is to say the patients then weren't used at another dental office and the same thing happen. They could easily make $70, $140, $210, $280, etc, etc, on the same patient until the PATIENT decides to go to the office. In fact, a disgruntled competitive dentist or staff member could be faking to be a patient just to make their competition lose money. The list of fraudulent activity goes on and on.

If your check clears the bank, you too can be a 1-800 dentist....that is it....

If you need to find a good dentist do it the old-fashioned way, get a list of names from friends co-workers and family you trust....check the dentist's license at the state board, or local dental society...and that's it!

Most local dental societies have a referral system also...

that is the most credible way to find a dentist...period....

not by paying to have an operator give your name.....on the pretense of 'matching' you to someone.....a real joke....

Ask your family and friends. They are your best sources. Check with the BBB to see if a dentist have any complaints and check with the dental association of your state for the same thing.Ask your medical Doctor or your pharmacist The last two may not not be willing to give you a single name but probably would give you a list of dentists they could recommend.

Isn't it an advert agency that is paid by the dentist to be listed? Has nothing to do with brainwashing.
