when you cook raw rice, you don't actually stream it. You boil it by putting it in a pot of water and boil it until all of the water is gone. Maybe that's why they call it steam rice since all of the water is gone through stream and now it's cooked!

Note that every type of rice is slightly different and needs slightly different amounts of water to cook it, and it'll also depend on if you like softer rice (more water) or a little sturdier/harder rice (less water) but I like to cook it in a 1:2 cups of rice to water ratio.

    STEAMED RICE

    8 c. water

    1 c. rice

    1 tsp. salt

Add salt to water. Bring to boil, add rice and stir well. Cook until almost soft (10 to 15 minutes). Drain and rinse. Place in colander. Cover and steam until dry and flaky. Serves 6.

you get a big pot. put a little metal(steel) holder on the bottom. put the rice in a steel bowl and put the bowl inside the pot. put the cover on top of the pot. turn the stove on. check on the rice every once in a while until you get to the point where ALL OF IT is steamed.

make sure to wash the rice until

the water isn't cloudy or it'll taste

    gritty/dirty.

then put just enough water to cover

the rice, turn on the heat and let it

cook until it's nice and fluffy!
