Famous People who made a change?

Okay so basically i have to do a Speech on a person, place, thing or idea which has made a positive change and has the qualities of excellence, community and respect. So far i want to do a person and i was wondering if someone knew names of people who stood up for woman rights, or who tried to stop poverty, who tried helping those with AIDS, people who tried helping others with disabilities...thank you so much for helping out

"Speech on a person, place, thing or idea which has made a positive change and has the qualities of excellence, community and respect"

So you have to make a speech about a noun?

I think you should actually do a speech about a noun. It would come out of left field and if done right it would one of the greatest speeches ever.
